and 87 strikes again that is we have 87 runs to get and a wicket falls.

Each Partnership has to eek out 17 - 18 runs and we are home.

Please read before continuing to discuss such lies :P

http://www.cricket.com.au/news/the-story-behind-unlucky-number-87/2014-11-02
QuoteDon Bradman was putting on a batting master class for NSW against hosts Victoria, when out of nowhere the Don was bowled neck and crop by Harry ‘Bull’ Alexander on 87.

Miller was stunned. How could this happen to his hero? The number became a fixation for Miller, who would rifle through newspapers for club cricket scorecards in search for the unlucky figure.

The shock of Bradman’s untimely demise stayed with Miller. The legend spread when Miller was playing district cricket for South Melbourne alongside future Test captain Ian Johnson. Johnson was dismissed on 87, providing Miller the opportunity to recount the famous incident and offer his unholy theory.

The myth began circling the cricket community and became folklore after World War II when Richie Benaud and Alan Davidson heard of it.

QuoteBradman was actually bowled for 89

http://www.theage.com.au/news/sport/why-87-is-anything-but-australian-crickets-magic-number/2007/11/19/1195321694999.html - I understand this is 10 years old

QuoteThe 87 stat is a myth, and a whopping one at that. In fact, in the history of the game, only 12 Australian players â€" yes, just the miserly dozen â€" have been dismissed on the so-called Oz cricket devil's number, which equates to a miniscule 0.12% of the total number of scores made by our batsmen in the game's history. In fact, as further proof that 87 is anything but an unlucky number for Australia, the four scores either side of it feature more frequently â€" 85 has brought about a batsman's downfall 22 times, 86 has done it 13 times, 88 20 times and 89 19 times.

To be honest I would have sent Starc in at 2nd or 3rd drop with a licence to hit. Nothing much to lose then but now he can not afford to attack too much with still that 87 runs required.
