I'd love to take a punt on Steele, but going with Higgins at the moment instead.

Both could/should go 90+, but if they flop I think Steele will be harder to move on/sideways trade than Higgins.

I'm still considering Steele (replacing Florent).. To make it happen I would need to drop Gawn to S Martin..

What to do!?  :o

Mat0369

I'd take Gawn and the rookie.

Rationale Mat0369?

S Martin averaged 110 two years in a row prior to his down year last year (due to concussion really). If he gets back to form then i've estimated:

- Gawn 115 & Florent 60 = 175
- S Martin 110 & Steele 90 = 200

Steele if Steele can average 90, then he becomes a great F7/M9. Is it the forseen extra cash lost from missing on Florent?

I hope the people picking Steele have a back-up plan in the event he's a spud ie. money in the bank. If you already have Rougie then think carefully about who you'll be trading to.

I don't have Roughie so he is my backup plan if Steele flops.

Pretty confident that Steele will be a good pick though.  ;)

You're backing Martin to hit 110 again which I wouldn't be. He can rack up the pill and that's all well and good for DT, but you will have to bank on him spending 90% of the game on the field and going at a high disposal efficiency.

He is an undersized ruck and from memory is not super in the hitout to advantage stat which Gawn monsters. Unless you think Stef is going to be close to the second best ruck on the season (3 ppg) then you are picking a guy that you will lose points in the long run.

I have picked him in DT because if he butchers the ball it's not going to matter when he gets his 18 touches and 25 hitouts which aren't to advantage.

If you think Gawn will be the top guy at the end of the season grab him, Florent is going to earn some cash and you can turn him to the BPA in the long run.

I think Goldy is a lock for the top 3 guys. His floor is probably 105 and ceiling is matching Gawn last season. If he scores 105 that is 7 ppg better then Mumford last season. There is a bit of uncertainty around Gawn because the top rucks don't tend to improve the next season and come back to the field with a new guy taking the mantle. However Gawn is in a prime age and the new rule change suits him as much as it does anyone else in the league.

No O'Meara or Swallow so I can always DPP a forward rookie for one of them.

Ricochet

Won't need a backup plan for Steele

Exactly.

I 100% expect him to average 90+. I've picked him as a keeper

The odds of a player going from a 60 average to 90 are remote. Not saying it can't happen but it would be prudent to consider a back-up plan.

If i go the S Martin/Steele route over Gawn/Florent, then Roughie will be my backup plan

Same. Fully expect him to push 100.

See it similar to you. Martin maybe 10 below Gawn but Steele will more than make that up over Florent.

Steele to average 100? Wow, I reckon there's going to be some disappointed campers.
