Michael Barlow

Beams and Murphy haven't sold me as potential keepers due to injury concerns, shower teams, propensity for tagging and in Murphy's case, a flowering long time since a keeper average.

Barlow shouldn't be affected by tags and shouldn't be getting extended cameos in the forward line. He's been reasonably durable and should be the Suns #1 player inside the stoppages.

Reckon he should be good for 110-115. Thoughts?

I had him in my sights as well, but Rocket has come out and said he will be used in a tagging role and half forward, so that stuffs that up!

Damien Paull Michael Barlow being elected to the leadership group in his short time at the club speaks volumes for his character, what role do you see him playing in 2017?

AFL Michael's been a positive addition to the squad. We think he can play as a tagger but also play as a high forward due to his great aerobic capacity.

Thoughts on Brayden Fiorini? 127 in his second game is a good hau;, I think with how cheap Swallow is we're overlooking the value here

Jet, but their returning players and new recruits might see his opportunities held back a little

Ballsy pick to start with

really shows the lack of knowledge at the suns, watching barlow play he doesn't have a defensive bone in his body.

??

He did some killer tag jobs this year. Shut down his opponent and still got heaps of it himself

Can def see him tagging like that again and still racking it up

Ricochet

Ha, I'd be fairly confident that the Suns would have a lot more knowledge in that department than any of us on here

Idk man, I did win the flag every year I played on AFL Live

There's clearly some deficiency in Barlow's game, be that lack of pace, poor disposal or something else that has coaches keen to use him in other roles rather than on ball. First Ross and now Rocket, two of the better coaches in the league imo, playing him on a flank.

Gotta put it into perspective, fantasy points don't make you the best player in the team!

Thoughts on hamish Hartlett??

Thoughts on hamish Hartlett??

If he is locked into a mid role again then he could breakout, expect him to be played in both over the JLT and used as a stop gap during the season.

He has the early bye, so factor in you need to cover with a rookie for that week. As such if he as moved back to the mids and looks keeper material you can upgrade to him after the bye and have the extra player for the bye weeks.

He was touted to be leaving during the offseason, how will this have affected his mind and that of his teammates.

At his price IMO he is too risky to start as he could be the Rich of 2017 and be stuck in your team averaging 75-80.

Then you have the movements over the offseason
John Butcher (del)
Alipate Carlile (ret)
Sam Colquhoun (del)
Kane Mitchell (del)
Cam O'Shea (del)
Jay Schulz (del)
Paul Stewart (del)
They brought in 4 draftees (3 Mid & 1 FWD) & upgraded Cracker.

Looking at the squad IMO there is really a lack of Defenders that can play that plus 1 role with the efficiency of Hartlett, yet they have quite a lot of depth in that fringe midfield range with the likes White, the new draftees, Cracker, Wingard, Toumpas all possible options.

I'm writing a profile on him for the next one.

this is a good discussion of Hammer.  It will be interesting to see his role with Broadbent, DBJ and Pittard down back as well.  All similar players who have played plus 1 before, and can score well in this position.  Reckon that's why they shopped him around.  Now they have to find a role that works.  Maybe that means he ends up on a wing, or back in MIDs
