I have Steele at F6. The way I see it is if he steps up and shows signs of becoming a 90+ point keeper, then it was a great move. If he spuds it then he has been a placeholder for me to watch and see who does best in first two rounds between WHE, Tarranto, Florrent, Bowes, Houston, and get them in. Worst case is I burn a trade (correctional), but I could also be avoiding picking the wrong rookie priced player as well.

Won't need a backup plan for Steele

The odds of a player going from a 60 average to 90 are remote. Not saying it can't happen but it would be prudent to consider a back-up plan.

I don't really take his 60 average at GWS into consideration

For me, Steele is just like Titch. We all heard and saw how much he crushed as a junior and they started off with hindered opportunities but once they got into the 22 they just continued crushing

Tackling machine, built for SC and he never left my side over the past month with all the tinkering and changes I was making

90+ I am beyond confident. 100 is a little ambitious, but either way I absolutely expect him to become a keeper

As for a back up plan, I'd turn Steele and Witts into Gawn

So you'd rather choose Steele over Roughy?

I know he's been behind some gun players at GWS but he's yet to register a ton in 17 games of footy. This is the concern. Great JLT series but I've seen this type of thing numerous times. Tom came out from day 1 and went bang - 87, 126, 84, 99, 106, 113, 80, 106. Even though he was held back a year, these are his 2nd season numbers. Steele hasn't come close to this output. I think he'll improve but I put his ceiling at 90 with a likely average of 85.

Steele to average 100?  pffffffffft.  120+ easily.

I assume everyone has fiorini locked into their sides.

Was a guranteed 100+ guy at the end of last year

Only time will tell, but for me his upside, coupled with the fact its an easy fix if it doesn't work and I avoid fielding forward rookies - all of that makes it completely worth backing my gut
