So yeah, being the SC tragic that I am, I figured starting to plan early yet again might be of some benefit so I got my hands on the team picker that SC Paige whipped up to make inroads of what my 2017 team may or may not look like come Round 1.

Rance, Adams, Laird, Hurley, McGrath, Logue (Stewart, Ryan)
Pendles, Dusty, Fyfe, Hepp, Dion, Beams, Brodie, SPP (Myers, Graham, Barrett)
Gawn, Sandi (Cameron)
Dahl, Toby, Heeney, Clugg, Ainsworth, Bowes (Simpkin, Eddy)

Tried to go for a mix of proven performers, SC lovechilds, very Nige picks and value for money. Rookies are somewhat placeholders obviously, but I've tried to pick the best options that are in the running to line up Round 1 just to make things a little easier when playing around with the side.

$13,200 left isn't a lot, but early days and I'll probably look to have a little more left in reserve if possible when the real thing fires up.

Dusty and Hurley are probably the two picks I'm not that comfortable with, but I'm sussing out some other options.

Have at it, would love some thoughts!

You need some Danger in that team

I'm really not interested in spending north of 700k on him.

I think you'll find that he is worth every cent of 700k

It's a lot, but it will most likely cost you more when you've fallen behind everyone who has him

I don't rate Hepp as much as what others would (In terms of SC) but everything else is pretty decent mate :)

Why Cameron?? Strnadica is cheaper and a DPP as well

Neither will play

Cameron is a sneaky chance to get a game if Tippett/Naismith/Sinkers get injured

Odds aren't great, but it's possible!

Cameron averaged 94SC this year too so worth it I reckon

I think you'll find that the lack of GOAT is the more pressing issue here

Haha fair enough, very early days though so he'll probably go in and out of my team a bit.

I rate Cameron's chances of potentially getting a game, could come in handy like Mason Cox did for those that were on him from the start last year like myself. Cameron's also better than Sinkers imo, so all it'd take is an injury to either Tippett or Naismith and he might get a look in and if that results in a little cash generation, I'm not complaining. Being the most AFL ready ruck to get drafted too also helps.

Haha we already spoke about why the great man isn't a part of my formidable 2017 unit.   :P

Hmmm not sure about that. Reid has to come back as well, Naismith isnt in best 22 yet.

Buddy isnt 100% either so maybe

So this is the first version I've made since SC opened.

I haven't really had a chance to play around with or look into anything since I threw this together, but I'm starting to work out which structure is gonna be best while still having the options I'm keen on.

I've seen others stack up on mids and go a bit lighter on the forwards and backs, but I haven't quite worked out who I'm willing to part with to make that work.

Also still very tempted to pick Priddis and Mumford but I've resisted that temptation for now.

Feedback appreciated as always. :)

Ringo

Just wait till JLT and see which forwards come up allowing you to strengthen mids. From reports there could be quite a number of forward rookies coming up for Rd 1.

A lot of sides have rookies filling r4 - D8 and F4 - F8. As an example Keeffe may only average 60 but you would take that for the first 6 rounds and the price rise and guaranteed because he will play every game. Also gives you the opportunity to look at which defenders you can target.

Southstorm

Good PODs in Miller and Prestia. I presume you think they'll be keepers?

Money Shot

I'd prefer Hartlett over Hibberd in defence as there is a better chance of him going 95+
Logue is someone who I haven't seen in many sides maybe Scharenberg and Hampton are better options?

Love the Prestia pick he is someone I am really considering that could really go 110+
Only 4 premiums is very light as you have already stated

Rucks are perfect

Would really try and get Macrae in your forwards lines at F2 but in saying that like your F2-F4 picks as they could all be top 10

Logue gonna be a gun, may start for Freo as well
