Money Shot

Murphy to Powell Pepper
Witts to Goldy (if you have enough)

Really don't like witts mate he isn't even the best ruck at the club

enzedder

Good luck with your ruck set up. If it works you're a genius.
I also believe two Murphy's is at least one too many. I'd make one Beams but that's me.
Lots to like though :)

Thanks enzedder. Fingers crossed on Witts.

As for Murphy v Beams. Both have huge upsides, but I just cant trust Beams's fitness at the moment. That and he burnt me last year...

Of course, things can change...JLT series will be watched with close anticipation.

Sven

Dear Diary,

Well first week of the JLT series has been and gone....and of course, some tweaks have been made to my team. Naturally.

I could waft on about what players stood out, who didn't, players I added to the watchlist...blah, blah, blah. But I wont bore you and get straight into it!!

Defense

Heath Shaw, Taylor Adams, Hamish Hartlett, Callum Mills, Lachlan Keeffe, Ed Vickers-Willis
Tom Stewart, Zac Guthrie

Few changes here. Shaw, Adams are still locked in and unlikely to change anytime soon. Hartlett and Mills come in, along with EVW. Hartlett is a tough one, I'm not super sold on him, my heart says no, but my brain says the stats say otherwise, and its hard to see him averaging below 80 again this year...

Mills comes in as well, has always been on the radar along with Hibberd and Murphy, who are still in the mix. Will see how the rest of the JLT pans out.

Midfield

Patrick Dangerfield, Scott Pendlebury, Dan Hannebery, Tom Rockliff, Nat Fyfe, Marc Murphy, David Swallow, David Myers
Teia Miles, Jack Graham, Daniel Lloyd

No changes here, love this midfield too much.  ;D ;D

Rucks

Max Gawn, Dawson Simpson
Luke Strnadica

Ah, Witts....that old chestnut of my team. Well, it may be hard to believe, but I've gone even cheaper in Dawson Simpson. Yeah, I know what you're already thinking. Will see, but it will likely come down to Hanners/Rockliff and Simpson/Witts or P-P and Goldy. Just love that midfield far too much!!  :-X

Forwards

Luke Dahlhaus, Isaac Heeney, Touk Miller, Jarryd Roughead, Jack Bowes, Aaron Black
Shai Bolton, Brett Eddy

Couple minor changes, Macrae, Ryder, Pickett out, and in comes Heeney, Miller and Black. Now, yes, you can say that maybe I'm reading into the stats too early, but they have all been on my radar and didnt disappoint.

Still loving the team, even more so now.

Bring on Round 2 and the real season! Until then, happy Supercoaching!!  :)

Money Shot

Gee Simpson is a huge risk but I like him more than witts hahaha

Really like the side just not sold on Simpson

FWI I love the Hartlett pick he would be in my side if it wasn't for his bye.

Sven

Dear Diary,

Well week 3 of the JLT has come and gone...and pre-season is quickly coming to an end.

With every day, comes a new iteration of the team, endless research (FF, Prospectus, other sites, wealth of stats and data), and slowly becoming more and more happy with my team.  :D

Again, lets just drive straight into it.

Defense

Sam Docherty, Heath Shaw, Taylor Adams, Curtly Hampton, Ed Vickers-Willis, Tom Stewart
Luke Ryan, Zac Guthrie

Pretty drastic change-up here. 3 premiums (and hopefully the top 3 by seasons end), and then 3 rookies. Shaw and Adams have been around since the start, and Docherty is as good as they get.

Thankfully, with the amount of backline rookies this year, I think we can safely gamble with the 3 rookies on the field, especially Hampton after his recent JLT performances and injuries to other Adelaide teammates, and EVW in similar circumstances.

Mills was at D4, but I've really dropped off him lately, feel he could be a bit of a trap. :/ So much talent in that side, not everyone is going to be able to make a huge average increase.

Midfield

Patrick Dangerfield, Dan Hannebery, Adam Treloar, Dayne Zorko, Nat Fyfe, Dayne Beams, David Swallow, Sam Powell-Pepper
Jake Barrett, Mitchell Hibberd, Shai Bolton

Couple changes here. IN: Treloar, Zorko, Beams, SP-P, OUT: Pendles, Rocky, Murphy, Myers.

Little bit of a rejig, but I still love this midfield. 5 premium and a fallen premium, along with Swallow and a rookie. Seems to be the go-to structure for midfields this year, and its easy to see why.

Treloar came in for Pendlebury for cash reasons, but feel that might even catch Pendles average this year. Zorko v Rocky....a tough question as both are as good as each other, but its hard to ignore Zorko's pre-season form, and looking at stats from last year (averaged 116 from first 10 games), he's hard to ignore and a good POD (only in 4.3% of teams). Beams v Murphy is self-explanatory.

As for O'Meara v Swallow...still one more JLT game to make up my mind....

Rucks

Toby Nankervis, Aaron Sandilands
Braydon Preuss

Ah, my rucking department....the most contentious issue.

I think I've had every combination possible throughout the pre-season at some point. Haha.

I love taking a risk somewhere, and this year, the rucks are the best place to do so, and I'm going for it this year.

#Nankilands.

Gawn is $645,000 averaging 119. Nankilands is $674,000!  :o Who knows what they could average together, conservatively, I'm think 180+.

And should Preuss play, which is looking very likely (Goldstein has heeped praise on him saying he'd love to share the ruck with Preuss AND Daw), he could generate the cash needed for a handy upgrade to Gawn lately down the track. :)

Forwards

Nick Riewoldt, Luke Dahlhaus, Jack Macrae, Isaac Heeney, Jack Bowes, Aaron Black
Shai Bolton, Brett Eddy

Similarly with other lines, I've gone for the top premiums in Riewoldt, Dahlhaus and Macrae. Roo could be capable of anything this year. Captaincy pressure gone, freedom to roam...durability is the only concern.

Heeney is still in and I cant wait to see him in the season proper.

Bowes and Black still round out the team, fingers crossed they are both named R1. Plenty of options (Taranto, Bags, McCarthy, WH-E) around the mark that could take Bowes spot.

Well there you have it. Quite a bit of a facelift since the last team, but boy am I excited about the potential this team has.

Still love to hear any and all thoughts, and as always, Happy SuperCoaching! :)

Damn i really like that team!
Im still worried to put 3 rookie defenders on the field but sadly we dont have much choice!

I spent ages tossing up between JOM and Swallow but in the end i said flower it and have both in my team atm

That ruck combo is now very popular, may actually go it myself :P

Rookies are always a tough one, especially the year due to the lack of good midfield rookies, thats definitely made things tough. Have had Murphy/Hibberd/Mills at D4....and I have the same reservation about 3 rookies on the field. :/

As for JOM/Swallow, I just couldnt have that amount of risk in my side, especially with Beams in the mid too.

Fingers crossed Nank can stay R1 and Sandi can stay on the park!

Thanks for the praise Hawka! :)

Ringo

Nice team and structure - I too have had a play with the Nank Sandi ruck and gee it makes a difference to other lines.

Only comment on the Team and purely personal think Nroo is overpriced mainly due to that ridiculous 200 in last round last year. Will still be a top 10 and I am looking to bring him in when price bottoms out hopefully around byes.

Yeah, having Nankilands makes a huge difference, especially to D4/F4 and to the depth of your midfield. If Preuss plays, it'll make an even bigger difference.

I do agree that NRoo is overpriced, and Docherty is probably as well, but I burn through trades like no tomorrow, with Nankilands there, it felt that I then could afford and just pick the top 3 averaging players (for 2017) in the other lines so I dont have to worry about getting them later. Hated it in previous years where I've thought the same and waited for a price drop, but it never happens...

I've now got 11 guaranteed starting premiums, 2 fallen (Beams, Sandi) and 3 potentials (Swallow - av 110 in first 10 games of 2014, Nank - never know, Heeney - should he explode). Think that places me very well early on.  :)

Dear Diary,

New book came out today...

Isaac Heeney and the Kissing Disease.

Terrible read. Dont recommend it even though its contagious.

So, with that comes a slight change.

OUT: Heeney
IN: Higgins.

Someone's got to pick up the slack of points left from the retirement of Harvey, Dal Santo, Firrito and the departure of Petrie. With North struggling with injuries as well, opens doors for someone like Higgins to thrive, and he's shown that in his first two JLT games with limited game time.

Had considered a restructure to bring Mills in at D4, but nah. He'll definitely start in the vacant spot in the mids now, but when Heeney gets back....at that price, I need a keeper and Mills wont be one come the end of the season.

Ryder, Roughy, Petracca, Lycett, Billings, Miller, Wingard were also in consideration.

But Higgins won on bias. My only bias in my side. EVW and Hibberd dont count. :P

Glenmaggie

Nice looking team, I love the Zorko pick. I have just traded out pendles as well, just seems too pricey. Good luck

Pendlebury is the king of consistency, and it was very hard to leave someone of his quality out. It really was.

I really feel that Treloar could well catch him in terms of average this year, and that extra $40k can go a long way.

As for Zorko....he's performances are just too hard to ignore, and he's a great POD. I do wonder about the effect that Beams might have on his scores though, as well as Rockliff.

Thanks for the comment though Glen. :)

Ringo

Think Beams will effect Rocky more than Zorks due to the type of players they are.  Zorko will always be in the forward half applying forward pressure and tackling. Whereas Beams and Rocky are both on the ball players.

This is true. They only played all together one last year, with Zorko coming out on top. And even in the back end of 2015, they were all capable of breaking the 100 mark together. In 6 games between Rounds 15-21, they averaged 114.9 between them. Out of the 18 scores, only 5 were below 100.

In your opinion though Ringo (being a Brissy fan), who are opposing team likely to tag though?
