Can you really afford to pass on Newman?

Long is coming soon, Louge,  will be others.    Can loophole Hibberd as well.    When looking at the benefits of two keepers (no injuries assumed) Treloar M7, Roughy F5  then I figure I can.   Missed butler as well.

For me, its more about how incredibly good Nic Newman looked/is.

Can see him playing out the season and scoring well, far better than Logue/Long/any other rookie at this point.

From footy classified.  Goldy Time in Position
                 2015  2016  2017
Ruck          93%   93%   68%
Fwd            7%      7%    32%

Followed by discussion about Goldy as a forward.   Consensus was they were not sure.   Also known that Goldy was not happy about not rucking.

GET RID OF GOLDY time

My Chumps

If Preuss is named this weekend then I'll probably swap Goldy to Stef Martin. Nank and Witts tempting but I'll probably have to trade them later so would rather swap to the bonafide keeper.

Goldy as a late out R2 really pisses me off. Not only the zero I copped that week but the fact that it's meant Preuss has all but solidified his spot in the side.

sammy123

im think nank in for gawn for $$ dont trust witts

Ask yourself this.

You have a guy who has been a premium for 5+ years.

He comes out round 1 and scores 105 (with the guy in the squad everyone is worried about)

he gets a minor injury in round 2 and then round 3 is eased back into a game in a role he isnt good at and doesnt look 100% and puts up 52.

reportedly that 5+ year premium isn't happy in that role and wants his job back.

Do you trade him out?

Any other ruck and you'd have jumped off ages ago.

Only averaged 101 last year from 19 games when you take away the two 170+ games. Obviously he still scored them, but 19 other weeks he was average

North are finished now too

I know how much you love him, but that's costing you

its more i have more important trades. obviously trading in Newman is a must and then it comes down to it do I want Goldy + Touk or JOM + Grundy etc..

the taking away of the 170+ games is stupid.

take away the 1 game where got knocked early and was playing through pain and he averaged 111 for the rest of the year which is premium.

Heath Shaw put up 53 in week 2 and is barely averaging more then Goldy, zero talk about trading him out and so there should be.

Hanners opened the season 52 71 then went 112 this week.

I dont trade premiums on 1 bad game and really do you have any more evidence then that?

forget the injuries even with them the guy has gone 113 107 128 108 and then went 105 in round 1. Its not stupid to keep him one more week.

I love Goldy but as you should know im ruthless, i cut Selwood and attempted to Trade Goldy in worlds and I have never had my favorite player ever Brent Harvey.

It's more about what the coach is saying, it's horses for courses this year. There's even talk about Goldy being traded at the end of the year. Trade before his price drops, get a super premo mid and then weigh up the ruck situation.

im certainly considering bringing in Sloane for him though. Just means im screwed up front for 1 week.

must admit the Danger Bont Pendles Sloane Rocky Fyfe Beams Swallow mid looks pretty amazing.

burning through trades with no more keepers.

You have the same situation as me except you have Goldy I have Gawn trade to Witts then Omeara to Sloane who's B/E is only 43 this week another big week will push his price to 650+ K and will probably be out of reach for me with one trade next week so this is the week to get

need to get Newman.

players with -100+ BE don't come around very often especially after week 4.

its why im probably giving Goldy one more week.

Newman can go 60, 60 and still go up almost 100k in 2 weeks thats just too usefull.

Goldy will lose far less money then Newman will make you. Yes if you want Sloane you need to this week as he has two monster scores. But Joel Selwood who i rate basically the same has a BE of 112 so will stay pretty much the same.
