Holz

Berlin trade: Jarryd Roughead, Mark LeCras, Jay Kennedy-Harris + Ben Davis
Dublin trade: Kieren Jack, Kayne Turner, Ben Crocker + Jack Trengove

I traded out roughy due to cap reasons. then NDS and Yarran retired. So overpaying massively to get him back. Reckon Lecras is in the process of becoming irrrleevant but i need him with daw injured and roughy probably taking a while and getting rested heaps.

Purple 77

Confirmed.

Many, many talks were held but finally came to an agreement. I had a surplus of forwards ever since the great roughy news, and I wanted a decent M6. I'm optimistic about Turner & Crocker to help the LeCras void, but they have other help in my team.

Improves my best XV, and makes my squad younger. So trading two starting forwards is OK by me.

Oh and just in case people were wondering, I've asked the esteemed Nige to judge and confer the fairness of my trades, so it's not approved yet.

Nige

Verdict will be in soon, probably over the next day or two. :)

Holz already said it was a massive overpay, and massive overpays aren't allowed.

Yeah I LOL'd when he said that too, but I can't see how he is actually paying massive overs  :-\

You must be blind then RD! He's giving up zero starters for an F4 and F5. Purps must have creamed so hard when he received that offer.

Can give you Mitch Brown from Essendon if you want? lol

Sam Reid from Sydney is going to explode this year and finally stay on the park. Was very happy to get him cheaply from Cape Town, but would cost you Gray at least :P j/k

I'm quite happy to trade for no apparent reason if a fair deal comes along.

Alright, it's been a while because I've been busy and also because I was getting a few opinions (to reinforce my decision mainly).

Unfortunately fellas, I'm gonna put this trade down as rejected.

I'll explain a little, because it wasn't an easy decision, and of course providing reasons to support the decision is important.

So basically, for me, the trade is almost Roughy + Lecca for KJack. Roughy's had a year off, but he's still one of the top forwards in the comp and should be good for a mid 90s avg. Lecca's generally good for a mid 80s avg and being a more 'stay at home' forward this season should only help that I reckon. KJack on the other hand has been on a steady decline. Should his average drop as much as it did from '15 to '16, that could feasibly see him average as much as Lecca might. Obviously big ifs, and unlikely but there's more to this.

I understand Purps' motivation of making his squad younger, but I'm not sure the compromise is worth it because Turner is arguably fringe at North given they've now got several of his type, Crocker's no guarantee to line up given the Pies are unpredictable and have automatic inclusions like Wells, Mayne and (in a way) Elliott. Trengove was also dropped from the Dees side mid last year and wasn't able to get a recall which doesn't bode well imo (although admittedly Purps would know better as a Dees fan, but do I trust his bias? :P).

As for Holz's side of things - he's basically getting two best XVs players for one and good forwards that can potentially average as much as an honest mid are gold. JKH and Ben Davis are basically steak knives to balance the deal, but given the weight of the two forwards he gets, I think he's still almost fleecing Purps.

So basically, while I get the motivations of both sides for making the trade, I think it's too big a win to Holz and a trade that doesn't really help Purps at all.

Sorry fellas!

Not sure how popular that decision will be, but I'll cop it. Probably didn't articulate it nearly as well as I wanted, but that'll do. Purps has it easier so much easier with all other coaches voting imo. :P :'(
