Berlin trade: Jarryd Roughead + Hayden Ballantyne
New York trade: David Armitage + Jack Maibaum

Arma is pretty much exactly the type of mid I'm after at M6, and with the surplus forward in Roughy, I'm pleased at how this trade will balance my team structure out. Balla/Maibaum was added for cap reasons on my part (whose idea was that anyway).

If Nige could kindly rule on my trades again, that'd be awesome :) (remember there is only 3 days left of trading left though :P)

Btw, I just wanna sleep on that Pacific/Toronto trade before I rule on it, just to make sure

And just to pile on the pressure on Nige...

Berlin trade: Jonathon Beech
Dublin trade: Jack Trengove

Holz wanted Beech... I thought I'd accommodate. Beech tore up the SANFL last year, but runs the risk of not ever getting a game. Trenners is basically the same, so meh, I thought why not.

Confirmed.

I've thought about this trade for a bit now, and I've confirmed my initial feeling that Toronto are giving up too much.

I see Lee Spurr as a safe 70-75 averaging defender for his next two contracted years at freo, and at the age of 29, any years after his contract can't safely be assumed.

I see Lewis Taylor as a forward, or mid/forward or potential midfielder, as a 21 year old that has struggled under expectations in a struggling team, but is otherwise a good talent. I feel that his 2016 average of 59 reflects this, and that his previous two years showed his talent under natural progression. The guy has upside.

There is an 8 year gap in age between the two, with arguably different kinds of outlooks between them.

Given that Toronto could do with another defender, and that they are hamstrung somewhat by having one more trade left, I can understand that they might have had to allow a leeway to get their man whilst trying to address a shortcoming in their defence.

However, I find it inconsistent with the Wolves last trade, where they offloaded James Kelly for Alex Witherden i.e. an old defender for youth, whereas now they are doing the opposite; instead giving up a player with a more established upside for a lower ceiling defender. Spurr is kinda a downgrade on Kelly, and Witherden could be argued as a downgrade on Taylor.

Sorry guys, this trade doesn't sit comfortably with me, and I'm citing team-direction inconsistency, as well as hamstrung Toronto circumstances, to back me up. If I was confident Spurr would hit the 80 mark at his age, it might have been different.

Trade rejected.

Kelly has one more season(which will likely be managed).  Spurr has three years left.
Toronto have already traded in Pendles 29yo and Hanley 28yo, so Spurr fits in with that age group.

Jay

Taylor averaged 59 last season and got dropped by the 2nd worst team in the comp ???

Spurr has averaged 70 in each of the last 4 years, which is certainly handy as a defender. Only missed the 4 games in the last four seasons too.

Trade clearly suits both team's needs, really don't see how it's unfair at all :-\

I don't really have a problem with this straight swap. Beech has been pretty good in the SANFL and while the Crows are a hard team to crack, he's making enough waves to suggest it's a possibility. Already spoken about Trengove in my ruling on the previous trade so there's not much to be said here. If he gets back into the Dees' side, he should provide a decent mid option for Purps.

Passed.

Would have liked a reasoning from New York on this one, but I can probably guess what it is. Also sussed out the cap thing to make sure, but I know Purps would have already checked that himself anyway. As stated in Purps' previous attempt to move Roughy, I think he's gonna do fairly well this season and it seems like an odd choice to move who could potentially be his best forward but the need for a solid mid is served by bringing in Armitage (who has racked up some serious WXVs frequent flyer points). Balla isn't the greatest of scorers which is why he's better off trading him over someone like Lecca and Purps does have plenty of forwards. Maibaum's unlikely to be super relevant as a fantasy prospect given he's a lockdown defender, but the trade is provides Purps with what he needs and imo isn't as unbalanced as the previous trade with Holz.

TL;DR - Not thrilled with it or even a trade I'd have probably made, but think it's fair enough and serves both teams' interests enough for it to passed.

iZander

Dillos still have forward Isaac Smith on the market and defender Marcus Adams in exchange for a mid if anyone is interested

That's fair enough Purps, I respect your decision.

I do feel Lewy is worth a bit more on face value, but obviously having the one movement left restricted me somewhat. Spurr was the best defender I was offered (I rejected a couple of similar deals with older defenders) so I thought I'd pull the trigger

meow meow

Petrie will be #1 ruck at the Iggs
Langford will play inside mid
Steele at the Saints = good
Clay will continue his finals form
Boyd has arrived
Higgins won't miss games
McLean a premiership star on the rise
Waite is the man
WHE tearing up the track
Lester back to his 78 wing role
Anderson is umm.. alive

Got too many good forwards.

Wouldn't mind getting rid of Masten, maybe ANB too.

Nathan Wilson, Vardy, McVeigh and Gibbs have come up in discussions (I offered them all)

Probably won't do a thing though.

Hawkins most likely going, current offer to beat is a 90ish mid + a small depth upgrade.
