The team that wins it all is going to be the one that trades aggressively but also has to make the right calls. If I had Roughy I'd be trading him but it has to be to a player that is 100% going to be of benefit. Hoskin-Elliott is going to provide that through his price jump (although they play the Swans this week so buyer beware). If by downgrading him it allows you to turn an under performing mid price option into someone like Bont you pull the trigger. They are positive beneficial trades.

The chances of winning the whole shooting match are pretty well non existent without a huge steaming pile of luck

The chances of winning one's cash league ($50 in) without trades come finals time are pretty well hopeless so go easy if that is your aim

$900 is gettable with trades in hand

All fair and reasonable but trading after week 2 is a must, this is the time to work out who the big money earners will be and jump on whilst they are affordable. Roughie to Higgns is a good trade, Roughie to Murphy is a good trade, Roughie to WHE is a good trade and even better if the money is used to bring in another gun. I will have 140k in the bank so someone like Gawn will be coming in as soon as possible.

And here's Roughie's form guide in losses since 2013.

82, 73, 101, 77, 49, 78, 86, 45, 97, 83, 90, 41, 67, 92, 58

Average = 71

Interesting. I guess if they start to win a few more games he'll improve, and most likely this week against the Suns. But those stats tell a clear tale..

Whats his BE anyway?  I never wanted to start with him due to the recovery from cancer thing, but I was persuaded by all the talk.  I'll sit on him anyway and if he doesn't look like a keeper then I'll trade him when he's maxed out.  I assume he's got a few $$$ to make.

Its 63 so probably wont make too much cash. Really just needs one big game. Just look at his past scoring he often strings together a few bad games then goes bang.

eg in 2015 look at this 2 month period.

145 78 52 98 68 150 106 117

he has gone 73 82 in his first 2 games back, there is no reason to panic.

For example if he scored like that patten above he jumps up to 425k by round 5, falls back to 415k by round 7 then jumps up to 490k by round 10.

just needs a few big games plays suns in round 3 and 12. Hoping he puts up 1 big score to get his price going. Also has lions in round 8.

remember its big change at the hawks, mitchell and JOm in the mid they need to get used to the squad.

Seems a lot are jumping off him to get WHE are they thinking WHE is going to keep scoring 120 hardly Houston has the same B/E and much cheaper Roughy stays for now he is not going to lose money and I'm sure he will be fine but he gets more than 2 rounds for me

Can't compare things to a premiership year, Roughie will struggle to rip out those big games. KP players in losing sides are a nightmare and I suspect Hawthorn will be losing more games than they are winning.

not exactly true. Tom Lynch has been playing in a shocking team and putting up good numbers.

wouldn't be too harsh on the Hawks they have lost to Essendon and the Crows not exactly horrible losses.

he doesn't really rely on just kicking goals like other KPF. he only kicked 43 last season he played so thats 2.15 a game.

The issue is he has won a little less ball then he normally does.

in 2015 he went 19 touches 5 marks 2 tackles.

this year he is on 12 touches 4 marks and 5 tackles.

just need to pick up a few more touches and bang he is on a 85 average.

actually all he has to do is pump out 100 this week and he is on a 85 average for the year. Looks certainly possible.

Also Roughie's record against GC isn't too flash. Last 3 scores have been 52, 99 & 76.

History aside, there is absolutely no reason why roughead can't kick a bag this week. I understand you shouldn't decide in keeping him based off one game but IMO if he goes big it will have two effects:

1. His avg will put him a lot closer to the top fwds
2. It could very well kick-start his 2017 campaign

Hurley and Talia are both very tough opponents so he's done well against two of the best defenders in the comp.

Mat0369

May ain't too bad either.

piesfan1989

Yeah sure, May's a very handy defender but the GC defensive unit is terrible so i expect he'll have to leave his man to crash a pack or help out another defender. Plus, what happens if gc are grtting smacked? Does may attack every contest as if the game is on the line? Probably not
