Oh yeah, he'll only have to play on the 2015 All-Australian CHB in Hurls

I honestly can't understand the selection...

- Last full year of footy averages 90.8
- Will average at least 5 points below that having not played footy in so long
- Average of 85 puts him at 460k
- Makes you less than 100k which doesn't justify his place as a cash cow
- Average of 85ish puts him outside top 20 forwards
- Even optimistic's who say he can go around 90 would still have him outside top 10 as there will be bolters who maintain a 90+ average
- Both those cases considered, it certainly doesn't justify his selection as a keeper

Needed to be 50-100k cheaper to be even considered for mine

js19

He just doesn't look great on the track at the moment either. Needs to put on some bulk agin. They obviously think he'll make an impact, but I reckon there's safer options.

This I don't understand

So every player that has missed 12 months of footy due to injury always returns to average 5 points less from their previous year?

Let's just see how he looks in the JLT and go from there. If Harley is fit and firing, then I'd probably take him over Rough, but again I'll wait until JLT

Forget the year out he is 30 playing on a good team opposed to a 28 year old playing on the best team in the comp

How old is NRoo?
St.Kilda aren't the best team in the comp either.
Yet he scored 200 points or thereabouts in his last game and is priced as the most expensive forward this year with a 101 ave in 2016 after being written off as a good SC option by most experts because of age and injury.
Like RD I will be waiting and watching.

RaisyDaisy

Since when was being 30 too old now?

Seriously, so much guns are 30+ I have no idea how a players age comes into this when talking about good players

Let's see how he looks in JLT

They play different roles nroo can drift up the ground and win the ball. The guy who does that at the hawks is gunston and im seriously looking at picking him up.

Truth is he was droping leading into the injury and he relies on goals more then nroo does for scoring. You would also think missing games and being a little older if anything he plays a little closer thrn 28 year old roughy.

Hawks will likely score a little less being an aging team losing mitchell lewis and even bringing in mitchell jom thry will take time to mesh.

He is not a bad pick but if you think 90+ is a good chance i think you will be disapointed.

The Rough could answer the forward line conundrum.
2011 11 games, 101.4 ave
2012 20 games, 103.7 ave
2013 22 games, 98.4 ave
2014 20 games, 95.7 ave
2015 20 games, 90.8 ave
2016 -
2017 $367,100
Glad he's healthy first and foremost. From a SC perspective I'll be all over him if he has a good few months and is named R1.
This was my original post which started this thread....and yes it looks like his average has steadily declined... but today I discovered 2015's average is wrong.
The above I took from Jarryd Roughead's FF profile/ statistics...but for some reason he's listed as scoring only 63 pts from his Round 3 game v WB when he kicked 7.3 from 28 possessions and 8 marks... Too Serious has him scoring 173pts that game...and his average at 96.

My NRoo comparison was only brought up in response to age being given as a reason for not picking him, don't think it's relevant.
As for relying on goals, does it matter?...he only failed to kick a goal in 4/25 in 2015 and 2/24 in 2014...so if he plays forward he should kick goals...if he plays up the ground he'll score through hit outs or possessions.
He's certainly worthy of watching closely pre season and in a year where Dahlhaus, Macrae, Lynch, Heeney and Bennell are dominating people's thoughts I think Roughy could well be in my R1 team if named.

MontyJnr

Currently in 40.6% of teams which makes him the 8th most common player. From 2011-2015 his lowest average is 95.8 which I assume is the reason he is so popular. He's valued at $367,100, so you would need him to get a 95+ average again at that price.

How likely is it that he actually achieves that though?

Everyone knows he's coming back from a year out of the game and in his 3 JLT games he scored:
63 from 83% game time
95 from 85% game time
76 from 90% game time
= 78 average

They aren't amazing numbers by any stretch and he's playing almost the entire game.

He's come back to a different Hawthorn in 2017 with competing forwards/rucks including Gunston, McEvoy, Vickery, Schoenmakers, Burton, Bruest, Stewart, Cyril & Sicily. Is Roughy the focal point he once was?

Money Shot

He will most likely average 70-75 with a few higher scores to bring his average up too 80.
He won't be a keeper but he definitely isn't a bad option either.

Think Nankervis is the better option personally as well as Steele :)

RaisyDaisy

LOL MS 70-75? I'll take that bet

His first game in 12+ months scoring 63 who cares

Came out with a 95 the next game

As for the 76, his DE was incredibly low which isn't the norm for him, and he had something like 6 clangers too. I was actually impressed that he scored 76 based off how bad his stats where, so that's only encouraging imo

90+ is the pass mark for a prem forward this year, and he can hit that

Still locked

Look 70-75 may be a bit low but I don't see him going above 85 for the season at all.

He will probably be rested and start too tire towards the end of the season, by no means is he a bad pick as he could make 100k but he won't be a keeper come seasons end.

You've set the bar low for a 90+ premium forward pass mark.

Could see Dahlhaus, Macrae, Nroo, Buddy, Greene and full time mid Higgins easily averaging 100. There is a Top 6 prediction right there. JJK and Lynch could hit 100 too with a few monster games to balance out their scoring.

Roughead will need to do well to compete with the best.
