As a person who coordinates cancer care here in WA, I just can't see how Roughy will be able to play a full season of footy!  People in remission get tired and fatigued incredibly easy, he's young fit and strong, but just can't see it I'm afraid.  Melanoma ain't my speciality though, so I'll have to ask a few of my colleagues before I think about selecting him!

It's all about NAB for me too. Not expecting him to average anywhere near 100... but if he can score regular 80s then at his reduced price in a year where quality forwards look hard to find from the get go, then I think he is a good pick.
If he doesn't show much in the NAB then I'll look at going cheaper if possible with rookies.

Not sure if it makes him a lock, Hodge misses a fair few games each year lol

It's about total points with rough and he is bound to miss 3-4. He'll average 85-90 so playing a rookie over him brings his average down further to a 80 avg thereabouts. Not that great.

Great to see him named Captain but don't think I will be picking him after what he has been through just not sure if and how he will be used

There's no way you could pick him, he's like every essendon player... No proper match practice, underdone on fitness due to no training during treatment. Upgrade target at best.

Priced to average 70ish at 367k if he doesn't become a keeper he hasnt done his job.

Yeah he hasn't played competitively for a while, but he'll get a run soon in the preseason comp, and he wouldn't be playing if he wasn't fit enough or ready to play out full games of AFL

Heaps of players get injured and miss 12+ months of footy but we pick them straight away once they've returned at their discounted rate

Can't see how Rough and the Essendon players are any different to that

And I'm not buying the whole chemo angle, because he wouldn't be playing in the first place unless he was fully fit and back to normal, and by all accounts he is

Got to agree with RD and you on this one.    Was not expecting it but now he is a strong probable in my fwds.
