The Playing Rookies Thread 2017 Edition

Alrighty, so here's the upcoming options worth considering

This week
Fisher (MID)
Balic (MID/FWD)

Next week
Johnson (FWD)
Black (FWD)
Parsons (FWD)
Melican (DEF)
EVW (DEF)

This week I'm grabbing one of Fisher/Balic and doing an upgrade, but the following week will definitely be a double downgrade week where I can get rid of some rookies closing in on their BE's like Parfitt and SPP or get rid of some bench cloggers like Eddy, Pickett and Barrett for 2 of the above mentioned rookies

Unfortunately it won't facilitate two upgrades the following week, unless it's Otten/Marchbank/WHE to a couple of premos.

Yeah I don't understand the double downgrade next week talk.

Looking at the players available next week
IMO Black is the best option with Parsons second if he comes straight back in, but I wouldn't want to take both. None of the others really appeal much to me.

Black - What do you do if he comes out with a 40 next week.
Parsons - Could be back and wouldn't be a bad pickup, might be brought back through the 2's though.
A. Johnson - Know little about, but 70 is likely to be slightly over his longer term potential. Port have the early bye which makes him less appealing if downgrading an onfield player to him
Melican - Difficult to know especially seeing as how many rookie the Swans have been blooding, might be 3-4 games then rested.
NcNiece - Can't see him holding a long term position, had a reasonable game, but really expect a 45-50 average
EVW - 51 in game 1 will need to see more to make a decision
JKH - 48 in game 1, is aat a slightly higher price so unless he tons up in week 2 I would be avoiding.
Polson - Didn't show enough for me

I see Fisher, Hardwick and Balic all better options than the above bar Black.

I thought they would keep playing Otten up forward in McGoverns spot and play someone else in the backline once Jenkins comes back?

Or even Hampton. Dont see him kepping those numbers up, think Otten and Marchbank better options to keep.

My plan would have both Otten and Hampton gone next week for Dusty and Hibberd, so horses for courses

Yeah, no. Otten and McGovern are completely different players, Talia did his hammy as well so depending on match ups, Otten will go back for him and Jenkins will return either this week or next as well anyway.

Yeah, no. Otten and McGovern are completely different players, Talia did his hammy as well so depending on match ups, Otten will go back for him and Jenkins will return either this week or next as well anyway.

Don't forget Otten was doing a bit of ruck work, if Jenkins takes that back it will hurt Ottens scoring regardless of were he plays

Exactly, and also Talia is apparently a test for this week as well, the hammy isn't as bad as first thought and has been training with the main group already.

Yeah like I said before I'd be getting rid of Marchbank first.

Will be interesting to see how coaches handle Marchbank, Otten and Hampton in the coming weeks.  ;)
