Reckon Taranto just walks into GWS 22?

Kennedy and Hopper didn't, so I cannot see how he can
Yeah don't see him playing round 1. Could end up being the best of the draft though.
Agree with both of you.

McCluggage would be very stiff not to play round 1. Did enough today to suggest he should be picked for as many games as possible.

I can't see how Taranto gets into GWS best 22 at the start of the season. They have so much depth and can give him a good spell in the NEAFL to get his confidence up before blooding him mid season when they are in a position to manage their list come finals.

Based on what I watching Newman will play.
Vickers Willis won't be moving from my backline either.

Hopefully Darcy Cameron can earn his spot

Florent looks a smart player and surely is ahead of foote for a game.

Hibberd isn't doing it for me. Likewise turner. Neither looks like they will score big.

Thoughts?

Vickers willis is looking good to me, the concern for me with turner was always scoring capacity and consistency but he should be best 22 for what ever that worth

Weird im not worried about scoring with turner im worried with him being best 22.

Vickers Willis been in my side all preseason. Looked great in vfl pretty big guy who hopefully fills firritoto void. Dont know if mcdonald atley mullett etc.. can play that role

What about Ben McKay?

Wouldn't surprise me if he played round 1, pending the fitness of Brown and Majak.

Just not too sure on McKay's scoring ability as a key forward.. Will wait and see

Defence

Vickers-Willis, Newman and Stewart all looking like they are set for round 1.

Hibberd, McGrath, Keefe and Scharenberg (who all had the highest percentage selected for rookies before JLT) all underperformed. However I still think that Keefe and Scharenberg will play round one. McGrath may play round 1 but Woosha said he is a strong chance to be rested a lot and I'm not sure on Hibberd anymore.

Midfield

Myers didnt look bad when he had the ball but watching the game on T.V I never even saw him however he should still play round 1.

Lloyd and Setterfield from GWS looked very very good but I don't see how they can line up round 1. Fox, Foote and Florent all looked good but again Sydney has a hard team to break into and Newman looked better than both. Mountford from North looked pretty good and I think he could see some action this year (maybe round 1)

In other words ... Powell-Pepper is the only pure mid that looks like he is locked for round one. Graham and Freeman if fit should be there as well with Myers really likely also.

Rucks

Cameron looked good and I mean really good helping out Tippet in the ruck and resting forward. He could play round 1 sharing ruck duties with Tippet.

Preuss also looked good but with Goldy in the team I don't see how he will get much game time this year. Although he looked better than rucking than Daw I think Daw is better for North as he can go forward and I'm not sure if Preuss can do that.

[/Forwards

Taranto was best on ground behind Kelly in my opinion and I think he is a real chance to play round one as he showed that he can play forward as well. Black is now in my side as it looked like Geelong were targeting him however don't expect scores of 90+ each week. Schoenmakers looked good but he is always about there 23rd best player and always seems to just miss out but if he keeps up his form he should be playing round 1 and could be in my side. McCluggage looked good as well.

Brodie looked better than Ainsworth and Bowes and if Brodie wont be ready til after the byes I don't think Bowes and Ainsworth deserve to be playing until then either.

If Cameron is looking the goods rd 1 would you still pick Strandica at F8?

If the rookie situation is looking shower come round 1 a floating donut would be worth it over an iffy F8/R3.
I think people under estimate how many points a captain loop hole can net you, or even for loopholing rookies (Would love to see how many points it got me last year)

I'll be going with Strandica unless Cameron averages something like 100 over the JLT.

I am thinking if Cameron is named R1 I might still get Strnadica as R3 with Cameron on the fwd bench... both are R/F... Strnadica is perfect as far as loopholing is concerned and Cameron adds to depth on two lines potentially as well as a cash cow... would likely only have use of dpp for the beginning part of the year... depends on a few things (in team/ availability of other rookies/...)but certainly food for thought.

If Cameron is named round 1 idd go him. Ill always have some spud missing and have plenty of loophole opportunities. Also looking at Preuss as it means with Goldy Preuss combo you have one ruck spot locked away.

TomK

Everything I've read about Hampton has made me pretty comfortable about locking him in for Round One.

Money Shot

Hey Holz, do you think Mountford is a chance for round one? He looked good over the weekend.

Yep Hampton has been locked in my team all preseason, haven't actually got him named as him and Louge are pods and I would
Like to keep them like that ;)

I really liked the look of Schoenmakers over the weekend and a lot of people say he is best 22.

Puopolo, Roughead, Breust
Gunston, Vickery, Rioli

With Sicily as well

How are they going to fit him in when they already have those 6/7?

i would think its very very tough to pick who will get spots in the 22. I would say probably not loads of competiont with the likes of Hroovaat Clarke Dummont etc..

i reckon our list moves around alot so i would be worried about picking any north guy.

Same advice i have had the last 2 years you pick 1 north player and thats Goldy.

Thanks mate :)

Goldy and Vickers-Willis are the two in my side currently :)
