Jack Graham from Richmond is a chance as well. Do not overlook the DPP Forwards as well McLuggage, Galluci, Picket, Bowes, Ainsworth and Bolton all with DPP. Scott today said Kayne Turner should play most games so there is another forward to throw into the mix.

Think he said will play most games if fit and injury free, so think he is doubtful round 1

Nah it's cause he was injured a lot of last year. I knew he'd play Round 1 but awesome to hear Scott has backed that statement up.

RaisyDaisy

Time for another rookie update

Who do we think are near certainties to line up Round 1?

I'm thinking

DEF - Keeffe, Scharenberg (If fit), Stewart and Ryan
MID - Bowes, Glugg, SPP and Myers
FWD - Turner (If fit), Black and Eddy

Obviously a lot more guys who are in the frame, but these are the guys I am probably most comfortable selecting as place holders for now

Pickett, Bolton, Graham, Hibberd, Cameron and Newman are the others I am thinking are in with a chance

Any others?

GoLions

Ainsworth, McGrath, Logue, Fisher all a chance. Also heard Perryman leading all the GWS rookies atm, and could start round 1.

Nah, don't recall him being injured. Done for Drink Driving, and smacked 6 or 8 weeks by the leadership group and never got a look in after that. Reckon I remember him playing a fair bit of VFL, but not injured.

RaisyDaisy

Oh, I forgot Freeman

If he gets through the JLT I think he's a very good chance

What are people's thoughts on Venables?

Nope
Pretty sure I read they aren't rushing him because of the fact he was injured

From Ask the Coach with Brad Scott

Where and how do you see Mitch Hibberd fitting into your best 22, and are we likely to see him earlier rather than later in 2017, thanks Brad

AFL Brad: Injury permitting we'll see him during the JLT Series and he'll split his time between midfield and defence.

Hmmm, seemed to deflect there and not mention anything about the best 22 part of the question

They always do! LOL.  AFL media 101

RaisyDaisy

Nah not really

He clearly said that Turner is best 22 when fit, but when asked about Hibberd, and also if he would play early or late season, he just deflected all together

Time will tell

JKH is a chance for round 1.

Kent is injured and won't play in the JLT series so is unlikely for round 1.

The Dees generally play two small forwards, Garlett will be one. JKH the frontrunner to be the other at the moment after impressing this pre-season.
