Dyl Clarke ready made contested ball winner and can take a grab above his head... Kicking only concern.
Gallucci much the same, will be able to fill J.Lyons spot and adds a bit more class.
Marshall for port could see early games given their lack forwards.
McClarty strong in the contest and moves well for a big man, if he's fit (injury clouds) could see early games as a 3rd tall at pies. Great contested mark.
Mitch Hannan i reckon will also be set for early games, Gun one out... flies high would sit wel alongside hogan and weideman. Really good on the ground as well.

Can't see McClarty being any good for SC and Galloooch would be behind plenty of Crows, CEY, Milera, Knight etc surely?

McLarty probably not a scorer... but fits what the pies would be looking for to fill the holes left down back

As for gallucci he's quick, skilled, ready made and kicks goals... for a little man he takes quite a grab as well
not sure where he fits, but he'd be in the mix with those guys considering the role lyons played he's like for like with a higher potential. Maybe adelaide fan could shed some light on the ability of CEY/Knight to kick goals? i think thats what could put him ahead

I'm a big fan, as you can see <<<<<<<< but it wouldn't surprise me if he starts round one, it's not just Lyons' spot I think will be freed up, we carried quite a few players throughout the year such as Mackay, and Thompson and to a lesser extent, Douglas. The three mentioned by RD would be first in line, especially Knight, but Gallucci could certainly push himself into the team with what he brings.

Jack Graham looks a ready made option, I'll also look at Logue given the Swans have ditched both the Richards brothers.

Oh yeah, was thinking pre draft predictions. Still a chance at Freo but Rossy eases them in.

Not exactly a rookie, but rookie priced, Matt White at Port? Seems to be a walking soft tissue injury but is under 200k

The real unknown at this time of year is which rookies will play from round 1. A lot more will be revealed over the JLT series but let's list the guys that you think are most likely to feature in round 1 at this stage.

I took these from an article on the AFL site (I left out some teams )

Adelaide:
The standout: With the Crows badly needing an injection of pace in their midfield, Gallucci will be knocking down the door for an AFL debut before too long. - Lee Gaskin

Brisbane:
The standout: Hard to go past McCluggage. It's only match simulation, but the teenager already looks to have more time and space than most of his teammates. - Michael Whiting

Carlton:
The standout: It will be another year of opportunity for Carlton's youngsters and no first-year player is better placed than Petrevski-Seton to break into the Blues' senior team early in 2017. - Nick Bowen

Collingwood:
The standout: Brown is a hard worker, an efficient user of the footy and is putting himself right in contention for round one selection. - Ben Guthrie

Essendon:
The standout: McGrath has enough talent and the required competitiveness to play from round one. - Ben Guthrie

Fremantle:
The standout: Logue looks well placed to claim a spot in the Dockers' opening home and away clash with Geelong at Domain Stadium - Travis King

Geelong:
The standout: Stewart appears the most likely for an early season debut, but don't rule out Parfitt, who will push for a spot as a small forward. - Ben Guthrie

Gold Coast:
The standout: It's tight, but probably Ainsworth. The dynamic small forward has shown his nous around goals and is pushing hard for a spot in the Suns' round one team. - Michael Whiting

North Melbourne:
The standout: North needs to unearth outside run following the departures of Brent Harvey and Daniel Wells and, at this early stage, Williams has shown enough signs to suggest he can help fill the breach. - Nick Bowen

Port Adelaide:
The standout: Strong performances in the JLT Community Series could see Powell-Pepper force his way into the Power's side for round one. - Lee Gaskin

Have left out a few teams as the ones I posted sound most likely for a round 1 debut in their write ups. Check out the link for every recruits full write up and progress and also the ones that can be ruled out through injury or not being ready for AFL level

Any others that you feel are likely for round 1?

Doesn't sound like it from the article.

"Will Brodie and Brad Scheer have also looked at home, but might have to bide their time until a little way through the season"

As a crows fan, i don't see any rookies starting R1 at this stage. We have enough depth in the SANFL team to cover outs with matre aged or already built players.
Id expect a few to be given a shot with some injuries, suspensions etc, but can't see any breaking into the team for extended periods at this stage.

That's true and the higher finishing teams generally don't blood as many rookies but playing a kid like Gallucci from round 1 won't necessarily be because he's one of the best 22 players at that time but because they want to get games into him because of the potential he has. Same as Callum Mills last year. Teams like to give their best young players a chance early to prove their worthy of a spot. Unless of course they just aren't ready physically and mentally for AFL
