I had him in my team after a strong performance a few days ago but he (Otten) is no where near as good as Talia which means he would must likely have to fight with Hartigan for a spot and considering he played all but one game last year (I think) I see it hard for him to break into the side.

Brown, Hartigan, Lever
Laird, Talia, Smith

Looks like a pretty solid backline.

Kelly/Seedsman are possibly fighting for a bench spot and Otten is probably first in line if Lever, Hartigan and Tahlia get injured.

I may be wrong but That's how I see things from the outside.
Pretty much this except Cheney will probably have the bench spot.

Cheney on the bench with Seedsman and Hampton playing on the wing.

Kelly and Otten will probably be first to be looked at if injury strikes I'd assume.

That list is very hopeful

So we should just say no rookies will play?

Of course it's hopeful, but they're clearly the most likely in terms of being possible

Imo you are always very unrealistic with your rookie starters ... but all good

Mat0369

Wagner is looking pretty good for North.

Hibberd could also get a gig, 11 touches to half time.

Mat0369

Who is North missing from their 22 today? Brown and Waite are key forwards and they are two off the top of my head. Turner, Simpkin, Vickers-Willis, Hibberd, Wagner and Preuss all flashing at times so far today.

I don't think they missing that many but gee that preuss has looked bloody good to me. I would be picking him to play with Goldstein

According to the team sheets

Notoble absentees: Jed Anderson, Ben Brown, Sam Gibson, Jarrad Waite

They will probably use Brown as the 2nd ruck/forward so it will be interesting to see if they want to go really tall. Preuss just kicked his second goal so he is showing he can pinch hit up forward.

I think Anderson is injured again so he won't be coming into the side.

Simpkin has been really good in this quarter.

Mate surely this preuss plays round 1? With no mason wood. I understand Ben brown is out as well. But surely you goldy preuss and Ben brown before Majak?

shaker

If he plays R1 certainly won't be picking Goldy

You are forgetting Waite. Will they be able to sustain a forward line that has Waite, Brown and Preuss. You can probably only afford to play one of Brown or Preuss. Wood is a completely different player.

The same thing was said about Dan Currie a few years ago when he was playing really well in the NAB. They aren't going to play him over Goldstein and he isn't a better forward then Brown so he might not get a gig.

Mat0369

And the team sheets notable absentees thing is pretty inaccurate. Mullett, Jacobs, Hansen and Wright are all guys either in the 22 or will be in consideration.

AaronKirk

Ben Brown has had an injury interrupted pre-season recovering from knee surgery. North are hopeful he will be right for JLT 3 but may not be ready for round 1.

If the battle for round 1 is between Daw and Preuss for the 2nd tall spot than clearly Preuss on the 2 pre-season matches has played better.

Always unrealistic? I'm just naming players who are scoring well and from reading various articles are genuinely a chance to play round 1, so I wouldn't call that unrealistic at all

Might be a little optimistic, but I think you're taking what I'm saying as me being gospel - I'm just putting names out there which are a chance, not saying they all are locks, far from it

I reckon Mitch Hibberd & Ed VW will be right in contention.
