Croad started at Hawthorn and we traded for him, then traded him back.  Everyone has a laugh at that deal but it did net us Luke McPharlin - so in the end we still got a fantastic player for us. (Yes, the hawks got Hodge and Mitchell)

Headland was definitely an "overs".  He was an outside runner who looked better than he was - its hard not to look good when you are with Black, Voss, Lappin, Aker etc

Headland also played AFL Masters for Nollamara this season - I was lucky enough to play against him.

We gave up pick #1, #20 & #36 to get Trent Croad and Luke McPharlin.  Pick 1 became Luke Hodge, pick 320 became Daniel Elstone and pick #36 became Sam Mitchell.

BUT... No one talks about pick #20 for Hawthorn.  He didnt play a single game for Hawthorn (But I believe is Hodge's business partner)

draft picks as you'd be aware jv (I know you like your NBA and maybe NFL as well?) are 'crap-shoots' - who knows how the kids picked are gonna turn out?

trade back - like a 2nd hand car the biggest loss is when you drive it out of the car-yard lot, after that the depreciation isn't as marked ...  so effectively, Freo didn't do too bad overall ... relatively speaking  ;)
