Might as well start a new comp for all those interested in complicating the flower out of our beautiful competition.
Come on Nige, it won't be that bad. It'll basically be the same as we have now with the cap. Just $$$ instead of points.
I'm even worse with $ than I am with normal numbers tbh.

If it ain't broke!

JBs-Hawks

It is broke......

Change isnt always bad. Might even help Cairo find some midfielders!

Nige

Nothing wrong with the cap as far as I know.

1 + 1 = 2

$1 +$1 = $2

The difference between numbers and dollars :p

All for salary over points

Will never vote for poaching and contracts

I'm with JB

I still don't see a real reason the switch from points to salary (other than it being more realistic, but that's debatable imo) but if it happens then whatever, it's all the same really

I guess I just prefer points because that is what the actual player scored, where as salary is using several variables to determine a value

There could be an easy formula to add into the current points system to account for missed games, but then part of me thinks it's actually fine for teams to get the low value in points (Eg Libba was valued for us as 0 points) because the fact that we couldn't play him for an entire year had such a big impact on our performance, I guess you could call getting him for 0 the following year, compo

i think the ease of the formula is people can easily predict what a player will cost ap wise so they can plan for the future just not this year.

I have always said that the salary cap is stronlgy bias against past peformances and guy in their prime or decline.

the old cap is simple, easy to understand and has the bias removed. Maybe we can add the injury factor in abit.

Holz

ok while i would like to put the tagging rule up as my nomination. The one where i went into detail about 10% 20%.

im going to put up the cap with a vote for either the old rule + a caluse for injured players where they get between 60 - 80% of their score from the previous year. So if their points falls below 60% of the year before or whaetver the number is you use that as a ceiling.

If the salary cap comes in then it needs to have a youth factor into it so its not ridiculously bias towards what a player has done and not what they will do. At the current point the players who are most valuable are guys just leaving their prime and not superstars like bont and up and coming guns like brayshaw, hopper are crazy cheap.

If this is just a sub set of the cap and can be included then include my tagging rule aswell please Purp

Our coaches award goes to Sam Docherty for being a gun

Picked him up as a glorified steak knives in the Hogan/Walters+Darling trade, and has really played out of his skin this season - averaging 109 at just 22 to be the best defender in the game. And to think I was super happy with his 87 average "break-out" last year!

Hogan looked afl ready earlier in the year in the nab and has been killing the vfl. Amazingly I think he will be the number 1 target at the Dees next year. Docherty was being held back by Voss and showed it with 2 big scores. While I think long term the two players I'm giving up will be be better. I'm going for the flag and Walters looks a solid high 80s player. He won't be a premo but more than handy. Darling has shown promise and is a decent bench player, bit up and down but I hope he can pump out a 80 average season next year.

Thats form Sept 2013.

Dochers was not glorifed steak knives. I said when i drafted him i expected him to be better then darling and walters and it turned out correct.  Basically the post above is what people should think when im selling youth, im expecting short term gain, long term pain.

would love dochers hogan back but the trade above helped me get a flag.

this isnt true though.

the cap reflects a teams scoring for the year

the salary cap reflects a team scoring ability based on the last 3 years with a premium for established players at the end of their prime or past their prime and a discount to guys entering their prime or youth. i.e. the opposite of how players are actually valued.

I agree the methods are different, no problem
'
just pointing out that mathematics don't change whether you put a $ sign in front or not

meow meow

I'd have more ancients than just about anyone and I don't mind having to pay top dollar for Boyd, Mitchell, Joey etc. It's good to see that Holz is being totally selfless and looking out for Christchurch though.

DazBurg

for the coaches award at PNL
it prety much came down to a toss up between the two Zachary. Williams or Merrett both at time of posting have lifted their SC average 21 points (williams from 69 to 90 and merrett from 88 to 109)

But since we can only nominate one after much discussion between HP and i we have gone with

Zach Merrett!!!!

not only has he brought his average up 21 SC points
but he has givne us that much needed boost in the mids while also given us that 2nd Captain option to go with Priddis
especially after the early season injuries to swan and hodge his influence has been massive for us this season

Pacific's coaches award goes to future 10x Jim Stynes WXV Medallist and 12x All-Worlds Team Captain, The Bont.
