In a pickle

Current team stands at

D: Docherty, Simpson, Laird, Bartel, Rance, Rich (Collins, Broad)
M: Ablett, Dangerfield, Pendlebury, Sloane, Rockliff, Hannebery, Mitchell, Shiel (Jansen, Philips, Trengove)
R: Goldstein, Gawn (Goetz)
F: Zorko, Martin, Merrett, N Riewoldt, Montagna, Franklin (Petracca, Howard)

4 trades, $3k

Dilemma - Plan originally was to trade Rich -> Heater and downgrade a rookie in order to gather the funds required (currently $130k), however with Ablett going down and Petracca as the only real coverage, I'm not keen on holding Ablett only for him to come back at 70-80% and just do enough to get through each week, as well as lose points by fielding a last resort 50-80 from Petracca over the weeks Ablett is out. So only real option available is to trade both Ablett & Rich for Heater + mid

This is where it gets the dilemma gets bad. With no war chest, and Heater hovering where he is (be of 195 so will lose cash but is playing Brisbane so after two poor weeks he'll probably bust out a 150) the $$ I have available for a mid is only $466k which isn't great at all. Obviously I could trade Ablett down to a premium around $480-495k this week where my options become greater (Ward, Treloar, Sidey) howverr that could only work if Heater busts out a score under 100 against Brisbane and loses 40k meanwhile Rich busts out a 95 and doesn't lose any more money. So the %'s are looking really slim.

With this all in mind, the only options below $466,400k that I like is Hall & Hodge & then nobody else. I could wait a week and lose like 50+ points by fielding Rich again but I know Heater will go big this week after a pantsing and Imo I need him in this week.

So, if you've made it this far thankyou. But if you were in my position, what would you do? Trade Ablett for a greater prospect (Treloar, Ward) and play the risk Heater doesn't to large this week (as well as field Rich), or go for Hall and not worry about $$ whatsoever. Other option again, is to grab a player such as Neale/Selwood for Ablett and completely forget about Shaw for this year. But with a soft draw to finish he should avg 115+

Please help!!!!! Thankyou

It is a dilemma.

I'd be more inclined to grab a gun mid and forget shaw. Maybe grab a McVeigh or JJ?

Andrew Gaff $411k might be worth a look?

I think Shaw is a lock because of the PPG difference between him and Rich (or a Rich replacement) should be pretty big due to the GWS run home you touched on.

Cripps at 448k and Viney at 451k are two others I would rate for a 100-105 average on the home stretch.

Shaw averaging 110 so is already pumping out a Premo mid avg. Could swing Bartel to mids, and grab JJ

You have to get a gun mid. Ward is the cheapest Id get atm.

So you can cross your fingers and hope Rich and Shaw get the numbers you need but Shaw is being tagged a bit lately so maybe take a look at some other options?

Zac Williams is killing it at the moment.

Mhmmmm not too keen on Gaff at all. Or even Cripps Viney for that matter. Viney last few weeks have been horrible.

Hodge went 108 last year and Hall hitting his straps. Not a good option??

I could also pick a player who will rise in value (hall be 41) wait for them to reach a good price and upgrade before finals injuries pending?

Why do I need a gun mid though? Shaw improves my team by 30 points immediately over rich and is doing better than ward you just mentioned by 5ppg

I agree you don't need a gun mid, good defenders are few and far between.
And whilst I am a big Zac Williams fan, his last two good scores have occurred due to a tag on Shaw. That won't happen every week.
I think you could get a similar average out of Hall/Gaff/Viney + Shaw vs Williams + Mid Premo with more cash in hand for injuries.

Depends what you think they'll average on the way home, rather than what they avg now.  I think Ward and Shaw will avg about the same so Id get the cheaper of the two. (Teams are starting to tag shaw now ive noticed)

That allows you to spend more on a better defender for Rich.

If getting Ward gives you a chance of grabbing Shaw in 1-2 weeks, that seems ideal?

RaisyDaisy

Yeah with the lack of cash and trades, don't get fixated on Shaw playing Brisbane

Getting him in this week when his BE is 195 isn't a great move in your situation. The money you save from getting him cheaper next week will do you more good long term

Williams has started coming off the back of the square and getting loads of hand ball receives and booming it inside 50.  Hes been consistently getting up to 65-70 sc by half time. The shaw tag has limited impact on his output.

All that said, Shaw is a weapon and is the equivalent of a very solid midfielder in scoring terms. Getting him is a must but Id be patient and wait for him to drop further.

If I go Ward this week it gives me $106k to spend.

Rich currently $404k be 96, Heater $535k be 195

Surely the stars can align and I can make it happen.
Just gonna bite the bullet I think

So midfield becomes

Danger Hanners Ward Sloane Pendles Rocky Shiel Titch

Yeah i'd probably do this option mate, Heater predicted to drop < $500K, you just hope Rich doesn't drop much in value.

_wato

Yeah my thinking too

Is Ward & Shiel a good duo though? Looking through their scores, a lot of 160-180 combined scores and then some 220+ scores but with an easier draw should I not worry about it

Other thing is

Which option scores more

Neale + JJ
Ward + Heater

Are teams learning that Shaw can't be left alone ? tagged last 2 games , Hodge over Hall he is a gun always gives 100% think of getting him myself
