JBs-Hawks

Nroo will kill it as long as he can stay fit

King_Robbo

Surely Buddy.

Roo has a history of slowing down in the second half of the year.
Given he is fitter and lighter than he has been in previous seasons, but he will be nursed through the final rounds as St Kilda are out of the finals race.
Buddy has a tough couple of weeks (Geelong and then Hawks) but he has also played well against the top teams this year.
Also, McCartin went down on the weekend with his third concussion of the year. He will most likely be moth balled for the rest of the season as one more concussion may be career threatening. This will mean that Roo will play more in the forward line for the rest of the season where his scoring will tail off a little.

For me, if you want to be super risky and get a POD, go Roo. However I think most of the top coaches will stay away from Roo and I think you should too...

Playing forward or not, NRoo 6/8 games left at Etihad including the next 4, career average of 111 there and averaging just under 122 there this year also. Scores of 101, 125, 137, 142, 117, 114, 116. Doesn't leave Melbounre and has Dons Melb next two whom he went 137 and 142 on earlier this year. Has Brissy in the SC final and we know how well forwards have competed against them.
Just as likely as Buddy to miss games and looking fitter than he has been. Patty will be back. Interestingly his two highest scores were with McCartin out of the team, funny that.

Top coach or not, I think he's a good bet. Even with two hugeeee stinkers at Adelaide oval his average this year is just under 98. And with the opportunity to kick more goals this year, I think he gains more points and becomes an even juicer prospect.

And you cannot go wrong with Budster. Looking incredibly fit and strong and Sydney are a rabble without him. Should avg 100+ on the way home, surprisingly very consistent this year, no huge games and only a couple of hiccups along the journey.

Adelaide score was injury affected.  Just brought Roo in on those Etihad scores.

I'd rate him about is highly as Lids, just 50k cheaper..

almonds

Also the scores without mccartin have been 137,142 and 82 having over 20 disposals in all so im not sure wheather his absence is a major factor

King_Robbo

Just some stats re NRoo and the comparison between before and after bye rounds excluding injury effected games.

2013
pre bye - 108
post bye - 101

2014
pre bye - 118
post bye - 90

2015
pre bye - 102
post bye - 90

Buddy

2013
pre bye - 88
post bye - 92

2014
pre bye - 88
post bye - 113

2015
pre bye - 98
post bye - 66 (however we all know his battles with mental health in this period)

Stats don’t lie. Not saying that Nroo won’t come out and finish the season strong, but three seasons of data suggests he drops off by about 10% and buddy generally improves 10%.

Can you really bring in Riewoldt, 33 yrs old averaging 96ppg and based on the above data will go at around 85-90 ppg for the rest of the year.. All for $33k more than Buddy?

Not a lot points to that being an intelligent decision.

So with all the data now the answer is still the same

Buddy 9/14 over 100, 3/14 below 83, 2/14 above 116
NRoo 8/14 above 100, 4/14 below 83 (incl injury affected 45 against Crows) and 5/14 above 116

Buddy will give you consistency with the odd mare, doubtful of ever going huge despite a bag of goals (based off this years evidence), averaging less and harder run home, cheaper than NRoo, younger
NRoo also very consistent, history shows a bigger ceiling and odd mare also, averaging higher currently and easier run home with Etihad friendly fixture, more expensive, older

Hahaha.
Still the same for me too... Neither.

Some blokes are utter freak athletes.  Two years ago I didn't even give half a thought to Boomer. He went bonkers after his bye, as a 36 year old.

Alex Rance is another one that springs to mind, could be SC relevant into his mid 30s.

almonds

Those last three season saints havnt recorded more than 6 wins, i think a much more competitive saints side will benefit nroo, along with his good run home so i think ill lock in nroo

recon we could get atleast 3-4 wins in this home straight aswell as being in melb for every game

as for stats, when saints win roo has scored and averaged

2013: 122 136 99 107 155 = 123.8

2014: 152 133 116 179 = 145

2015: 108 74 121 133 117 135 = 114.7

2016: 86 137 114 117 116 = 114

Im pretty confident of 100+ from here so Im bringing him in instead of waiting for dahl.

for the record I started buddy
