Mike McCoy should be fired as soon as the Chargers set foot back in the locker room. That was completely inexcusable. You've got a timeout left down by 3 points with 18 seconds remaining, and you just let Oakland run out the clock.. Flowering pathetic. I know it's unlikely but you make them kick the field goal and bring into play the chance of a blocked kick being returned. Then you have a shot of a kickoff return as well. And you still probably have time for one Hail Mary. To just give up like that and not give your team any chance is inexcusable.

If Atlanta wins the division, I think it's going to be very hard for Matt Ryan to not be MVP.

#1 in QBR
#1 in Passer Rating
#1 in DVOA and DYAR

Atlanta have played the toughest schedule of defenses in the league, and I know he's got Julio which is a big advantage, but his O-Line's pass protection is ranked 21st so its not like he has all day to throw.

Unless they fail down the stretch, I think its his to lose.

If we win out and Zeke puts up another pair of 100+ yard rushing games he will become the first rookie since Jim Brown to win MVP

NE makes some strange moves at times...

The New England Patriots scooped up Michael Floyd off waivers, according to ESPN’s Field Yates, just one day after the Arizona Cardinals cut the former first-round pick following a DUI arrest.

Floyd, 27, was released by the Cardinals on Wednesday, two days after he was arrested early Monday morning, following a loss to the Miami Dolphins. The Patriots claiming Floyd, means that the majority of the NFL opted not to pick up the final games of the receiver’s contract.

Scheduled to become a free agent in the offseason, the Patriots will now be on the hook for the final games of his contract, but that could mean the team is rewarded with a compensatory draft selection if Floyd signs a sizable enough contract elsewhere in the offseason â€" although the competition committee could opt not to do that

Maybe they're really bad beyond Edelman at the receiving positions and hope Floyd shows what he did last year.

they traded a guy earlier this year because he had a spat with the coaches, they just signed a guy 3 days removed from driving under the influence and blew .217 had fallen asleep at the wheel, car running, you know the sort of shower that could kill people ???

It's Bellicheat. They also have taken guys with character issues in the past like Moss and Blount. He is a weird unit but I reckon this is out of pure desperation

RiOtChEsS

yeah definitely, i think its a bad look for the sport, i noticed the bucs picked up the ex eagle with a handgun and boot full of weed ::)

PowerBug

There'd be no one left if they only picked squeaky clean guys. same with the AFL and its drug policy. Can't go zero tolerance or we'd have no players left ;D

Yeah and those worked out terribly.

Taking drugs on your own watch is a bit different to being a risk to others on the road because your shower faced and cant stay awake, or cruising around with a handgun, or smacking women up, for that you should lose your job, no team should be looking to bring you straight in 3 days later, do you think ray rice learned his lesson? i bet he did because he is darn sight poorer than he could have been because of it

Jay I intentionally picked the two options that worked as a counter argument. Then there are the guys that didn't like Moss the 2nd time, Ocho, Teblow etc.

Huff is also on the practice squad so it's not like he is actually playing. Dude is a waste of space on the field anyway.

Fair enough. I don't think the Patriots are the first team to sign a player with somewhat of a chequered past - but because its the Pats, its a national story of course. Floyd's actions were dangerous and beyond stupid, but as PB said if football teams didn't sign players because of their mistakes we'd have none left! We're shallow at receiver and Floyd at his best is a difference-maker.

Also Riot, I hope you're not having a dig at the Pats.. Remember your team last season had one of the worse people to ever play in the NFL playing for them. But if its a broader point in regards to how these guys can be such bad people, and still be able to walk into a new job in a matter of weeks, then yeah it is a bad look and I completely agree with you.

Mat0369

Well considering Floyd is facing a minimum of a month in jail it's why I said it is a desperation move. They basically need him for WR depth this season but based on how he has played I didn't see it panning out. He has a ton of talent but just has never been able to put it all together.

The other thing with Huff, while he is an idiot, he actually had a permit for the gun and in his home state of Texas and in Philly what he had was legal. NJ has ridiculous gun laws apparently which is what got him in trouble in the first place. The weed is a different issue. It's not like he did a Hardy or Beaterson.

The thing you need to remember with a lot of these guys, they aren't the sharpest tools in the shed and because of their athletic gifts have been able to get away with a lot of crap. Some of it harms only themselves, some of it is pretty despicable. It's up to a team to judge if they are on the Greg Hardy/Ray Rice scale or the Bell/Gordon scale
