Dak was clutch
Was a learning curve for sure, the more difficult situations he faces the better he will become sooner...

I just finished watching the game. Best line in the league my a**. So many holds and nothing paid. There probably should have been a couple of intentional grounding calls as well.

Doug pulled his best fat man impersonation with the clock management to close out the end of the game.

Apparently this happened as well

My jaw dropped when I saw the notification on my phone, but we've seen this so many times from BB with players like Jones, Mankins and Seymour.

We might not ever truly know why this trade was made, but if it was because they didn't want to pay him, wasn't that why they traded Jones in the first place? Seems strange

Has to be something he did that nobody knows about yet

Michael Lombardi tweeted that he has been freelancing and that this was a statement for the defence to improve. He has really good credibility since he's been with the Pats but I'm still not 100% conviced

I couldn't believe it when I woke up, but it makes a bit more sense once you get your head around it. There was no way we were going to pay Collins what he wanted as a free agent. So it was either try and get something for him now, or just end up with the compensatory pick when he leaves. Also, our defence has been poor this season with Collins seemingly having regressed from last season. Hightower is better and we do have some depth at linebacker. Also, when was the last time Belichick let go of a player that came back to haunt him?

All of the above makes sense, but this isn't like the Mankins trade where he was coming to the end of his career, Collins is an elite defensive player in his prime. And how did we get such little value for him? Seriously, no one was willing to give up a second round pick? This pick we got might even be a 4th round depending on some compensatory stuff, its not like we're getting a top of the 3rd round pick either. Couldn't we have just held him for the season and then got the compensatory pick which would've just been almost as good of a pick anyway? Can't tell me that having Collins on our roster for the rest of the season isn't better than not having Collins on our roster.

Exactly what I'm grappling with. It doesn't really make sense unless Belichick is making a massive gamble that the trade will give the other guys on the defence a kick up the ass, that seems like the only upside.

Not sure about the depth a linebacker, that and corner might be the weakest spots on the defence right now but the rookie Roberts has been promising.
