Another big haul of 7 goals, and JJ's contract still appears to be stagnant. I think 750-850k from Brisbane for 5 years is a ridiculous offer from Brisbane, no wonder this club is going nowhere. In my opinion JJ is the beneficiary of the Crows star studded forward line, where he will regularly get the 3rd best defender behind Taylor Walker and Eddie Betts. So I think he would struggle as the number 1 forward getting the number 1 defender at Brisbane albeit with limited supply from the midfield.

On Footy Classified, Damien Barrett reported Crows have offered around 550k a year over 4 years, which I think is really good deal for JJ. His best chance at being a premiership player and the best forward he can be is to stay with the Crows. That said if Brisbane receive pick 1 as a priority pick, they will hold pick 1 and pick 3, so since JJ isn't a free agent, pick 3 would probably get that trade done.

Do not think the offer is that big lachie. If the rade eventauted JJ would no doubt attract the best defender each week.  Brisbane really looking for a key forward to assist while Schache, Freeman and Close develop. Disagree with you about the limited supply from midfield it is just that we can not seem to take a mark and kick goals. In the first quarter against Carlton we had 15 inside 50's for 0.3 hence the interest in Jenkins.  A lot more upside than Cloke.

Well it would have to be that money now, since it's reported crows have offered 550k and 4 years. Thing is here he doesn't get the best defender, and at Brisbane he will certainly get the Rance's, Talia's, Davis' of the competition and I don't think he will play anywhere near to standard at Adelaide. I don't see Brisbane challenging in the next 3 years, and so to spend that money on a player, they really need to fit the age demographic on your list, so maybe Jesse Hogan.

Brisbane wouldnt have to trade, just chuck the 850k price on his head and he can walk into the draft!

Yeah no, JJ has got more integrity than that, unlike some *cough cough tippett* and if he did leave for money he would want the club to be compensated.

And you know this how?

I'd sell my integrity for 1.2 million dollars.

No inside information but listening to JJ and the type of bloke he is. He's constantly indicated he wants to stay with the Crows and considering the club has invested so much in him, I just don't think he would walk and say stuff the club. Regardless, I have a feeling this will sort itself out soon. I think Crows will go up to 600-650k and 4 years, which should get the job done.

Adelaide should really hurry up and offer him a contract he deserves - I know that they are trying to find something that doesn't affect their ability to retain some of their other talent

Imo Jenkins suits Adelaide - he thrives because of their forward line, Richmond/Carlton apparently want him but I don't see him fitting in there. The reason why he's so successful in the Crows is because his athletic ability to break away from his man, which is never the best opposing defender because they are already too busy trying to contain Tex and Lynch.

Add Eddie Betts into the equation and you've got a man who is nearly impossible to tackle, too athletic for the third tall, and is a master at getting into the best position to execute the play with a goal. I think the Crows are aware of this and hence why the contract talks will take a while.

He seems very loyal to the Crows, as an outside he seems to be the team's spokesman and he has had strong relationships with the recent coaches.

He's a gun player, and I'm a Port supporter stating this, but his potential is only really being untapped - I think we'll look back at him one day and call him the beginning of a new era of second talls (Richmond need Vickery to emulate him if they are to get any value out of their no. 8 draft pick).

I really hope he's win the Coleman and, despite being a Power supporter, I want the Crows to have a chance because some of the players they have lost, for little return, is ridiculous.

He doesn't just score goals as well, if you look at his assists you could consider him elite in that category for a player of his type.

Beat me to it  :P

I should have read the posts before replying haha

He's a superstar in his own right though - all players have a role to play and he's playing his to perfection

Pyke has a lot to do with it as well

I agree though - I don't see him doing well with the added attention he will receive with less support

Just on a side note, I've always disliked the Crows (well from 2013-15), however this season they have actually been one of my favourite teams.

On the other hand, I have developed a strong dislike for Geelong hahaha

I think my issues have been more directed at a certain cheeky player over the last few years rather than any specific club  :P

It comes down to why you play the sport and what you want from your career, either you want lots of money because you're a flog or you want to be successful. In the AFL success is measured by premierships. Jenkins may never have a chance to win a flag at a rebuilding Brisbane so it comes down to how much he loves his teammates and club or, does he simply like just a few more dollars each year?

Discussing this with some members today and we are of the opinion that Jenkins will not be the right fit for Brisbane. He is 27 years of age and we feel that Brisbane need a key forward in the 23 - 26 year age group to bring Schache and freeman on and move forward with the club as we move up the ladder in 2/3 years time. Gunston or Darling fit perfectly.
