I'm thinking only doing downgrades from here on in until after the round 13 bye, seems detrimental to a small extent to be bringing in players now when they will be missing an upcoming game. Good strategy or not?  ???

Depends if you're going for overall..
I have been doing up/down for the past 5-6 weeks which has bought me back into contention for at least a top 1000 finish.
I am looking to have a complete 22 prem team by round 15 with 5-6 trades in the bank. the quicker you get a fully premium team more better chance of rocketing up the ranks

Yeah I'm going for overall...my first year with SC, not too highly ranked, so might be a chance to trial this strategy having fallen behind a bit... I just figure having a truckload of cash as each bye round ends will allow to upgrade all spots by the end of the bye rounds and then some.  If there are downgrade options for the next few weeks, if not then not sure?

well if you're only downgrading then per week you could be losing at least 50 points per round (but of course you'll have all the money in the bank). So after 6 rounds, thats 300 points which is hard to make up considering by then the others will also have a full premium team.

If you're going for overall, you can't save trades and cash and lose points. Have to keep up with the pack by upgrading.
Plus by the bye rounds, its only top 18 players anyway so hard to see much catching up to be done. Even if you have 30 players playing in a round, only 18 count so no point in trying to not bring in prems just because they're going to miss a week.

That being said, it would be stupid to only bring in premiums who have the bye in the one round and end up with less than 18 players that round

Bang on, you need to be focusing on one up one down unless you're confident of fielding a rookie that'll get you the premium-ish score.
That is the only reason why I'm considering a double down this week.. At the moment I only need to upgrade f6, m8, d5 & 6.
I don't have my eye on anyone this week in the forwards or mids, not enough value there.
At the moment I am fielding two of Byrne-jones, Tipa, Adams or Byrne - all who are capable of punching out 70s and 80s with ease.. So if I upgrade to a Mcveigh this week I may only be loosing out on 10-20pts max..
Depends on teams...
If tucker and Matho are named I might grab both

Going Smith to Beastmode do i trade up Kennedy to Gray or Dahl or Stefan Martin to Goldy/Nic Nat/Tippett where do i get the best value

Judd Magic

Which trade makes most sense guys?

J.Smith (M8) > Gray

Or

Adams (F6) > Dahlhaus

Smith to Gray, Adams still has value and can be swung back to another line in the event of injury.

Will lock in the Smith > Gray trade then.  8)

I'm trading out Hartley... think Tucker may be the choice. Collins probably has pretty good JS with Pearce out for the year and Michael Johnson also with a long-term injury, but Tucker probably has better scoring potential. He had a big game (29 touches, 10 inside 50s) for Peel last weekend and is quite likely to be recalled.

Remember that Michael Barlow also had something like 180 odd DT points in the wafl.. Doesn't mean theyll d it in the big time
Hartley to Tucker or S.Collins ? for d7 leaning towards collins for js ?

For JS Collins but I have a feeling Tucker will come in and score very well.
I'm leaning to Tucker if named

Marcon

1. Smith to Matho

2. There is some options with this one:

Ben Ken to Dahlaus, or
Ben Ken to Tucker (via Tippa, though it would mean benching him)

Will wait for teams before I really start crunching the numbers. Tucker's round 15 bye makes him very enticing.

smith has great JS and scoring ability. dont know why people want to off load him (unless he is the only option)

Mid bench is: Smith, Davis and Macpherson.

I have Smith at M8 and want to get Gray in to complete my mids.

Smith is the only guy in my mids that I can upgrade as I have Keays, Davis and Matho on the bench.
