Only 3 defenders named this week :-[

Ben Reid, Sam Gilbert, Sean Dempster, Jake Lever, Jordan Roughead, Nathan Wilson in my reserves this week. Your man Heartless has been dropped, and the other guy on my list that you like, Corey Ellis will have defender status next season too. Never too early to open trade negotiations!

Attacking.

Updated to attacking because we only have three defenders named. Wanted to save that last attacking formation for later in the season but I guess no choice but to use it now, especially with Luke Brown in some doubt as well.

You don't HAVE to Attack....

I remember that one time, I think it was in the 2013 season?

Cairo had some seriously underperforming forward, and because they were doing pretty well, thought they'd play Chris Newman OOP as an F4... against an opponent they probably wouldn't beat in Mexico City.

Chris Newman did OK too! But alas, his score was cut in half. But Cairo only JUST lost this match...

... but had they played their regular forward, who did pretty well that game, they would have won.

I suppose that's just encouraging you more to Attack, but I just wanted to resurface that moment :P

Cairo put in a massive effort, but no cigar...

And the Suns put an end to Alexandria's reserves winning streak with a massive score! Led by Adam Goodes, recording the biggest score of the round, and the biggest reserves score ever (probably)

Cairo Sands (21.20.146) defeated Mexico City Suns (23.13.151)

Best
Cairo: R Douglas, L Thomas, P Hanley
Mexico City: J Bartel, J Waite, J Lewis, J Adcock, S Hurn, B Goddard, C Enright

Late Changes
Cairo: M Jones replaced D Armitage

Reserves
Alexandria Hieroglyphics (19.14.128) lost to Mexico City Suns (30.11.191)

Best
Alexandria: J Petrenko, J Gibson, J Johannisen, M Hutchings, J Polkinghorne, R Crowley
Mexico City: A Goodes, B Vince, M Blicavs, D Addison, J Russell, N Hrovat, B Lake, Aaron Davey

^ Would Cairo have won if they had played Petrenko?

Quote from: ossie85 on May 26, 2013, 08:08:19 PM

@Sid - yes, Cairo would have won if they did that and kept Newman in defense

Purple 77

Another fun fact, had Cairo played Petrenko & Newman that match, they would have finished 4th instead of 5th. They then would have beaten Mexico City again funnily enough, taking them to the preliminary finals where they would have played... me. I don't know what Cairo would have scored because they didn't make it that far, but I scored 145... Cairo could have gone on to win the premiership maybe?!

.... or me?!

Purple 77

So the lesson here is I guess, don't play OOP players if you can avoid it, it might cost you a premiership! :P
