Boston should never have drafted Brown. Dunn or Murray would have been their best bet and then draft them. Philly were keen on either of those guards and were willing to trade for the 3rd pick

Andrew3747

This year wasnt that stacked. There was Simmons who has a super unique skillset and high upside, then Brown and Ingram with high upsides. The rest are sort of limited. You are right though with next year. The top 3 of Giles, Jackson and Tatum are all better at the moment in terms of talent then anyone. All 3 are franchise players so getting a top 3 pick in next years is perfect if we want to rebuild. Its up to the front office what they want to do. I think getting KD and javing him around Thomas, Bradley and getting a big defensive C/PF would give us the best shot at a title imo.

Boston should have tried to get Butler from the Bulls. Dunn or Murray would have interested the Bulls.

They "tried" to get Butler from the Bulls... but apparently a deal couldnt get done.

With Rose getting traded they were after guards. Bradley or Smart would have interested them more

KD will not leave OKC to go to a young team with talent.

You would need to convince both Lebron and KD to comes as free agents for anything to happen. Then you can trade your young talent for a 3rd guy.

not going to happen.

I would have chased Okafor.

Cookie311993

KD has said that the only sides he will look at during free agency are those that have the potential to win a title.
IMO Boston are a few pieces short of being in that position
A trade for Butler would have signalled their intentions

Okafor or Noel were offered for the No.3 pick

would have jumped at Okafor.

Major talent who was obvisouly frustrated losing in Philly.

stick him in boston with lots of great defense to hide his flaws and then a coach to help his defensive game would have been great.

Cookie311993

The rumors were that the 76ers went all out to try and get a trade done for the No.3 pick. Okafor was first mentioned and then Noel was mentioned. Then they were trying for anyone in the top 8. They really wanted either Dunn or Murray to go with Simmons

Sabonis to Magic at #11.

Apparently Sabonis has been traded to OKC for Ibaka - WOW

Edit: Orlando send Oladipo, Ilyasova and Sabonis to OKC for Ibaka
As a thunder fan i saw we got Oladipo and Ilyasova and at first was extremely happy, Oladipo was the type of player we need, an extra player to take the focus of Westbrook/Durant.

But giving up Ibaka, i don't like, in the fact that he and Durant are very close and it won't help in pursuing him to sign a new contract.

I loved Ibaka, I believe he could win a DPOY soon.

I love OKC too, but no way was Ibaka improving, shame he had to go, but he was definitely on the decline unfortunately.
I saw commentary somewhere that says because OKC is a good team, they got the media 'win' bias from the trade - ie Orlando are losing and had too many wings so Oladipo was surplus to needs ... so is it really such a bad trade for them really??

but it still looks like OKC had a great result - isn't Ibaka in a contract year?? he could leave and they get nada??

Just throw everything at KD. If it wasnt for LBJ, KD would be this generations superstar  with 4-5 MVPs and a couple of rings. Either trade Jaylen and go all out KD and compete or trade away Thomas and Bradley to rebuild around Jaylen and future draft picks.   I feel we are just going to stay put and just win 40-50 games and lose in 1st and 2nd roind again. Might as well not even make the playoffs if youre just making up the numbers.
yep, this is what has flowered Phoenix the last few seasons - they had that 48 win season in Hornacek's 1st yr coaching and then they got ahead of themselves but didn't have the talent/cattle to compete consistently for finals (let alone be a real contender) in the West ... that season was an anomaly with great team chemistry just that season and had the 3pt shooting (Frye/Green/guards) ahead of the Warriors/Raptors curve ...

thank f*ck it looks like McDonough's finally got things focused on the re-build ...
Valk I love Sacramento now because you've done Phoenix a massive good turn!!!  ;)

but i'm realistic ... Bender and Chris could both be busts but at least they're going for upside and building/looking for the super-star ... no decent free-agent is going to come to a small market town (San Antonio excepted) so Phoenix will rarely if ever get a franchise talent via FA ...  ;)

Thunder are punting on adams.

play a line up of Westbrook Oladipio Durrant Kanter Adams with Waiters as the 6 man. They needed to do something and that team looks scary on offense.

Andrew3747

Holz, KD plus Bradley and Thomas is legit. KD makes any team a contender.

I don't know if Waiters will be offered anything during free agency from the Thunder. Roberson will be staying on

I don't know if Boston are genuine threats before Durant signs. What I've read is that its down to 3 team. Warriors, Spurs and Thunder.

He wants a team that can win titles. Ibaka trade for Oladipo is expected to keep Durant

Boston arent contenders with just Durrant.

KD Bradley Thomas doesn't beat James Irving.
