Read the rule carefully

If you have leadership players under performing, and someone not in the group over performing magnificently then you can apply

We don't need all 5 to be absolutey horrible. Waite is over performing magnificently so he meets the criteria. If the number 1 SC player in the entire comp is not eligible with this rule, then no one is

The rule exists, so it's a fair request

You might have to read it properly RD ;)

     19c. Some leniency may be given under certain circumstances to allow for a captaincy selection outside of the leadership group. E.g. If all 5 members of a leadership have been seriously under-performing, and other players in your team have unexpectedly been scoring magnificently, you may be granted to choose a player outside of the leadership, but only in a co-captain capacity. All requests for leniency should be sent via PM to the Administrator, and they will have the final call.

Don't get me wrong guys - I am only making the request because there is (gray) rule that says I can

I'll respect what ever decision is made, not too fussed tbh, but when the number 1 SC player is not in our LG then I think I can at least make the request based off that rule

purps i told you the other week
you need to go back to doubting PNL for our seasons sake :P

You've said it again now, so I'll be remembering you've said this when and if you become a top 4 team again >:D

@Waite...

The idea of that leniency clause was there for extreme cases... think of it like the AFL priority pick, but just a touch more likely.

My initial instinct was no, as yeah Duncan and and Lewis have scored 3 centuries each.

And yes, when you compare last year averages to this year...

Mundy (114) ---> 80 (from 2 games)
Lewis (103) ---> 88
Houli (96) ---> 93
Duncan (91) ---> 89
Tippett (90) ---> 81

Then yes, they all have gone backwards. However, the form of Duncan & Houli is reflective of what they scored last year and their selection in the leadership group was based on that, hence they were deemed worthy of being in captain capacity. So I wouldn't say these two have seriously underperformed. It should be noted, that Mitch Duncan had an injury affected score of 25 in Round 2, so in the other 4 games, he has averaged 102.75 which is probably the improvement New York was hoping for in his scoring. New York also have David Mundy's return to look forward to this week, and it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect him to improve on the scores from just the two games he has played.

Waite (81) ---> 130

This is purely the unbelievable form of Jarrad Waite; form that would be good enough to make it to the leadership group if ALL of them were stinking it up. But the idea of the Leadership group was to reflect the AFL's leadership groups, so introducing players purely due to form during the season rarely ever happens. It's normally due to injury if it ever happens. New York will have an opportunity to upgrade Waite to the Leadership group after Round 9 (normally in the representative round, but that doesn't happen until Round 13 so I've moved it to actually the middle of the season), and they can make a request every week if they like (but PM me in the future :P) as circumstances could always change.

No dramas Purps

Watch Duncan go 140+ this week now  ;D
