The Smith call is a joke, so ridiculous.
Assume you're talking Isaac Smith?

I haven't seen the heat maps but theres no way he plays forward enough to gain forward status. He consistently plays wing and sweeps across half back to gain his possessions.

Is there another one of new DPP's for round 18 next week?

Yep, Hodge likely to get defender status.

LF

The new ones have hit today, will post the rest later but the main ones are
Hodge gains def
Hartlett gains def
Nroo gains mid

Now I've got to add Hodge to my shortlist of defenders to bring in this week, Simpson, Hodge, Bartel, Laird or McVeigh.  Hodge is the highest scorer, but the potential to rest one of those final games is too real!  :-\

This is exactly it, a lot of people I see on Facebook say, hodge won't be a top6 DEF.

But at THIS stage of the year, we have to look at the points they will earn in the final weeks, not what they have earnt previously - Hodgey I expect will still hit an average of 95-105 from now til the seasons end....  Will be be rested? I dunno, he's had a few weeks off already. Tough call.

Same thing I'm struggling with, Hodge, Laird or Simpson, all have decent runs home, Laird won't miss, Simmo shouldn't, but Hodge might.  :-\

I think that given the games Hodge has missed it'd be unlikely he'd get rested, it is a possibility of course but he has missed a fair chunk of footy. In saying that, looking at the last few years he was rested for round 23 in 2013 & 2014 after near full seasons. He missed the last two home and away matches last year but if I remember correctly that was due to suspension rather than being rested. Hmmm... It's a gamble and although I think he won't get rested, I reckon there's safer options. I can only assume you've already got Docherty? I've had Simpson all year and he's hardly missed a beat so that's who I'd go from your choices. Just my 2c anyway.

Been looking at the individual backs and I've come to the conclusion to get that #1 spot Hodge is worth the risk.  Plays some easy teams coming up and can go very big.  Larid and Simpson will be consistent 80-110 max.  Hodge has the higher ceiling so he comes in for me.

If it makes you feel any better, I was contemplating bringing him in when his DPP was announced but I've decided not to... So he'll probably average 120 from here while I ponder the what ifs!

Boom, lock it in Eddie!

I'm thinking Hodgey as well, and hopefully he shouldn't get rested as he's already had a lot of time off.  Simpson's consistent and tempting, but I've got points to make up, so will have to risk it. What about Johanisson? What do you think he'll average for the rest of the year? Plenty of matches at Etihad to come and nicely priced...

Also, my forward line is as follows:
Zerrett, Zorko, Dusty, Hall, Monty, Clay Smith.
Will be swinging Clay Smith to mids to get Matho onto the bench. Who would be a last forward to bring in? Robbie Gray? Roo?

Thx guys.

I brought in Johanison 2 weeks ago so he's a good option, depends if that money you save is going to be needed or not.

Yeah, back line is currently Boyd, Headache Heath, Docherty, Vince, Laird and Spud Smith  >:( who I'm upgrading this week.

The 40k isn't too critical as I'll still need to make a few downgrades elsewhere to afford my final mid. Just keen to get the highest averaging defender. You're all set on Hodgey jvalles?

Yeah mate lock and load, I held off on Dusty, Zerret and Zorko, brought them all in in the past 5 weeks and super stoked, time to add Hodge to that list!

Johanison is a great option though so I'd consider him over Hodge for your team if the moneys helps...he is coming back to form with 70 odd pts in the 2nd half last week alone!  16 in the first half though, so hopefully he's just warming up...
