I understand that and everything is based on the welfare of the player for their future is always the number one priority.

But if he passes everything he has to, trains and says he wants to play don't stop him. And no player doesn't want to play so he'll play.

Concussion is an insanely big code wide issue. If there's any slight doubt I can't see him playing. Simple as that.

From what I remember he's a really smart barbie too so definitely hope there's nothing long term in this.

you have malpractice insurance doc??  would have thought  Brisbane could be classed as lacking in duty of care if he plays this week.

He passes the tests.
He doesn't get a headache.

Why wouldn't he play?

With all we know and don't know about concussions I think Brisbane have a duty of care to rest him. It has to be about the players welfare and not someones SC team.

They're also a business that needs their best team available each and every week. If he's fine and does everything he has to, play him.

What's the point in not playing him if he passes everything exactly the same as the week before next week? Be a waste to bench him wouldn't it

Solution number 74.

Get Stef to see a fortune teller who is worded up to tell him that when his career is over he will be remembered as a great player, good clubman and a bloke you'd be happy to go to war with and that he got the most out of himself in his grand total of

199 games

The tests are far from conclusive and teams need to err on the side of caution when it comes to concussion. Nick Riewoldt passed his concussion test a few weeks back but the team doctor deemed that he wasn't quite right and benched him for the rest of game. So the doctors know the tests are not the most reliable indicator. Player welfare needs to come before any business needs.

The club I currently play for in amateurs brought in a rule a few years back that if you get concussed in a game it's mandatory that you miss the next 2 games.  I was concussed for the first time last year, was wobbly on my feet straight after, felt a bit out of it for the next few days, but was fully recovered by the 3rd day and just missed 1 week.  I think it all depends on the different scenario's and each individuals recovery, but you can never know if there's anything underlying.

This discussion is now more about concussion.

Then prevent it.

Helmets for all.

Hopefully he doesnt try to take a mark like Vickery

Mandatory for youth players(yr 7-yr12) in our district to miss the next week and even then after that they cannot play until they have a clearance from the doctors first.A kid on my sons team a couple of years ago missed 3 weeks because he didn't go to the doctors to get that clearance to play.
Now if they are protecting the youth players in this way,I know they are kids and people percieve it as different because they are not professional athletes but I don't see any difference and I don't not see why it shouldn't be done in the AFL as well since concussion is something they are big on.
