What gives here!!!! Do we only talk football when we win games?
Two weeks now and no comments on the games or how we played or didn't play.
Yet again on the weekend we were found wanting.A very ordinary first half.A better second half but still not good enough.
Far too many skill errors, and I mean all I mean ALL skills. If our coaches worked on our skills then they didn't do a very good job.
I thought we looked a lot better after half time, when Stephen Hill went into the midfield and played on ball. This allowed Fyfe to play more of a forward role and we looked better. He even got us back in the game, kicking three in the third to lift us.
I have said it before and I will say it again, we need Fyfe as a regular forward.
I am not having a go at his football ability, but he is now being double and triple teamed and held off the ball with no protection from the umpires. His possessions are almost null and void due the the fact that he can no longer break away from stoppages.Play him as a regular forward and see how much difference he makes to our forward structure.
A few will be waiting with baited breath come selection time this week I reckon. But I am sure that Lyon will not make more than one change, and that may be forced. Pavlich wont play.He copped one early in the first quarter and was brave to stay on the ground I reckon.
If we are dancing to a new tue this year we need to pick up the beat and get in step.

Looking at the way we are structuring up, I believe we are trying a new game plan and its just not working right now.  Whether its because the plan sucks, or the players havent adjusted to it yet - I dont know.

I expect we'll see that tune change this week anchorman

Ross has already admitted as much. And i'm glad he has. Nothing worse than being stubborn and keep persisting with something that isn't working, at least he has acknowledged they were wrong and they need to fix it.

Defensively we have moved away from everything we excelled at. There is no point having a shootout against clubs that have greater scoring options.

I'm certain we'll see big changes structually

They have had all summer to get the dance right. New steps or not, they should all be tuned in by now you would think.New plan or not, doesn't account for the horrid skills on Saturday night.Every time we looked like mounting a challenge, we turned the ball over.Either by bad foot skills, or by using too many in tight hand balls.Basically handing the ball back to them.
They wanted it far more than we did.It is amazing just how much difference that McPharlin made to our back line.We have been out of sorts down back in both games.

They've actually been structuring up differently to try and launch offence from there, but its shower! That'll be one of the first things to change i would have thought

So do you think he will go back to the defensive mode or will he make whole sale changes!!!
Last year we would have won both games with the score we kicked. But again it was our skills that cost us .

More defence mode i'm tipping. There isn't a lot jumping up and down in the 2s. I, like you, would love to see Collins get a game when he's ready. Crozier needs another couple. Mzungu could come in but doesn't really add anything different to the side. Off the top of my head that's about it

If it is going back to the defence, then Alex Pearce needs to pay down back full time. Then we need to bring in someone else to play as a second ruck.Would he bring Griffen back!!! I think not.
I would love to see Collins get a berth this week.He has played well for Peel so far.We recruited him as a back man, let us see if he was worth the risk.
I think Mzungu has had his passport stamped.I don't see any thing that he can bring to the team that he hasn't already over the years.I would prefer to see a younger player given a chance.
I am nor sure where Crozier fits into the scheme of things. He said he wanted to be another Nat Fyfe. Or words to that effect. He has to do some good hard work to get to that level.I am unsure about him, even though I picked him as my player for having a big break out season.

Going to open this topic up again, as it seems that we only want to talk about Fremantle when we win games.
Are we not prepared to put our heads on the chopping block and discuss what is happening because we are losing.!!!
I know that maybe there are some who don't get as much chance as myself to comment here, but gee pretty ordinary that some one has not made comment  about our plight.

Haha it had only been a few days anchorman

On the game... at least we at back being competitive again.
There are still issues (getting smashed in the centre in the last game) but at least we're getting back to some sort of respectable football.

Also can't take anything away from north. They're a very good side and on top for a reason

Tuesday Ric. A long time to be waiting for some comment on the way we played.
Yep I agree we did play much better against the Roos. Disappointed that we faded in the last quarter though.
Had we kicked straight earlier, the game could have panned out differently.
Three time this year we have kicked a 100 or more points, we only did it twice last year I think. The trouble is, we kick that many, the opposition are kicking more than us.
I am still believing that we have to play Fyfe as a forward.Every time we get back into games, he is the one responsible for it, as a forward.
Some good signs over all and a good team effort I thought.I was impressed by Dawsons game on Petrie. I thought he pulled his pants down and stitched him up.Not many can say they kept him to not scoring a goal.
We were always going to struggle down back with all their talls. Pearce worked hard but weight of numbers made it almost impossible for the backs to hold out all day.
Killed in centre clearances, though I thought Griffen was better at contests around the ground.

Yeh the middle was the difference. Some of their exits from there were so easy and clean, it was impossible to defend

anchorman

Mundy not playing Sunday , will only add to that problem again this week.Would they play Clarke do you think?
