Holz

just some calcualtions.

He will drop 30k if he gets 90. If he gets only 60 he drops 40k

So thats actually not too bad.

True Holz, but that's 40k for now. What is it after this rds score goes in ?  And then again after next week if he doesn't come good.  That v  Hall who is on fire  and enables me to  goi Seedsman to Johannisen.  Know you are talking generally but in my case I think perhaps  ??  ??   Thanks H, always love hearing from you as you always make sense, even ifI disagree. Cheers mate.    ;)

That essentially makes him  a wait and see proposition. You lose 40k in at worst or you see if he bounces back to the form you expect. He averaged pretty close to 110 two seasons ago, he might not hit those numbers but I think he has been a slow starter the last couple before going bang.

Personally I think it's silly to hold him and hope on two counts.
Firstly he is playing as a forward and you're hoping he will score well again which he won't if he stays in that role. Lyon has indicated they wish to become Hawthorn like and need leg speed and elite kicking. This means Barlow will not be part of the midfield game plan under that mindset.
Secondly Hall and Zerrett are firing and still cheap. Unless you have both of them I can't understand why you'd keep him unless you have greater problems to address.

Well put, but be wary of Zerret's high scoring in a loss to GCS and a win vs Melb, make no mistake they are going to cop some absolute beltings when they come up against good opposition, still a good pick just saying don't expect 110+ most weeks.
Barlow is gone for me. Ross Lyon lies.

For the people saying he might bounce back and play on ball again. If you watched last night even when the ball went near him he looked so out of it and messed up every time. I strongly suggest trading him cause i've never seen him play this bad. I don't think it can just be a bad game thing cause for premos when they have a bad game, even when the ball goes to them they usually do something good but he was so out of it.

Raiden

I'm trading him out first thing Monday morning.

I have Hall and have no interest in Merrett. Whatever Freo are doing right now isn't working, they have lost two games which they would have been favourites or pretty close. Assuming Barlow is only going to lose 40k with a 60ish performance, why not give it a week, see how they go against a quality opposition in West Coast? If he scores 60 odd you're 40k down but have Zorko still on the bubble as an alternative. If he kills it, he has done it against a great team and you save the trade which would make it easier to back him in. It's too reactive to dump him regardless of role off the back of two games. Playing that forward role last year he still averaged 90 odd.

smashbox

it all just depends whether he plays in the guts or up forward. does his best work inside, so why not play him there. hes never going to be a good forward.

I dont kno the stats last night, but surely with a loss like that they must have been beaten in the clearances. Put ur best clearance players in there and FREO might start to do a bit better

lukebomber

Has to go for me, playing forward in a role he is no good at, barlow to gunston for me

Last year's heat map showed Barlow playing all over the field, equally defensive/forward...pure mid.
Apparently he didn't have a stat in defence last night I'm led to believe...didn't see the game....perhaps someone can enlighten me otherwise. What you have to say re: Zorko makes some sense... but scores of 61 and 60 from Barlow aren't good enough for a premium priced forward. This week is a free hit $ wise but at the cost of a trade... next week he'll lose cash and Hall will be considerably more expensive. Hall is the one I want. Zorko might be an option later.
As for being reactive...maybe...more a case of being proactive perhaps.
I don't think he's an out of form premium so much rather a bad pick who needs to be culled now than carry him far too long and regret it later. Better to move him on now IMHO.
