Once again Fantasy AFL stuffs up. I along with many other people received 0 scores on the weekend even though we had our team full of players in time for lockout. My team is now still showing 'unlimited trades' although i have a negative bank balance.

This is the generic email that I got, trying to blame me (my emphasis in bold below). Other people have also received the same generic email as evidenced on dreamteamtalk

After further investigation, we have identified that your team was incomplete before lockout and you completed it after Thursday night’s partial lockout.

Note that once you have saved a completed team, it is impossible in our system to make your team an incomplete team, so it is not possible that you had a completed team before Thursday’s lockout and then somehow made it incomplete.

As a result your team is not valid for round 1 and you are not able to score points and can therefore still adjust your players. We hope you understand these circumstances and finalise and complete your team prior to round 2 in order to kick start your fantasy season!

There are still many weekly prizes up for grabs and most leagues are starting in the coming weeks.

Please let us know if there is anything further we can help you with.

Good luck for the remainder of the 2016 season.

Kind Regards,

FanHub Support

I went to test their assertion that "once you have saved a completed team, it is impossible in our system to make your team an incomplete team" and found it to be totally false. I setup a new team, autofilled it, saved then logged out. Logged back in, trashed one of the bench defenders, clicked on the 'elite' section, then logged out. When i logged back in my team is incomplete.

Regardless of this, my team was complete when full lockout came as my team was full and i could see all the players accruing points. A poor effort from FanHub.

lol, Real Dream Team have none of these issues.

AF is trash, you have to hit 'save' all the time

Q: Statement about incomplete teams for Round 1

A:

Over the past few days, a small group of users have reported that their Classic teams, which they believed to be complete,  scored 0 points for Round 1.  We take these issues seriously, and as is to be expected, it takes a significant amount of time to work through each case to determine the outcome, so we appreciate your patience!

After careful investigation of each affected user's teams, we have identified that the reason these teams have scored 0 points is because their teams were incomplete at 7.20pm, Thursday 24 March, and as such not eligible to score points in Round 1 as per the official rules.

Our system tracks the exact date and time a user's team becomes complete.  Users can choose whether to have auto-save on or off;  any time before Round 1 lockout, a user can clear their team or remove an individual player.  These actions are auto-saved if the user has auto-save turned on.

There are several other common reasons why a team might be incomplete at Round 1.  A substantial proportion of users with incomplete teams have intentionally left their team incomplete as they are participating primarily in Head to Head leagues starting Round 2 and want to take advantage of Round 1 data in finalising their team.

Unfortunately, as we’ve seen over Round 1, a number of users actions caused a team to be incomplete, including:

Not having all 30 players selected; many affected users simply did not understand that they had to have the full team selected, and not just players from the Richmond-Carlton match.
A user clicks “clear team” to wipe their team after previously completing it.
A user has exceeded the salary cap, and/or
A user has insufficient salary cap space available for our automated team completion feature to fix their team before Partial Lockout.
A user has auto-save enabled and makes changes to their team at the last minute that make it incomplete or invalid.

We have carefully investigated each complaint, and have found no evidence of any software bugs that would cause a user's complete/valid team not to score in Round 1.

Some users have suggested that we should award these users points for Round 1 despite the fact our system has clearly recorded their teams only being complete after partial lockout.  To award points, when we know that the user did not have a complete team, would not be fair on the other 120,000+ users who successfully managed to enter a complete and valid team by partial lockout as per the official rules.

Finally, the reports of “thousands” of affected users is erroneous and risks turning the unfortunate user error of a much smaller number of users into a larger issue.  We have been responding to every user who has contacted us about this issue via the official contact form, and when requested have supplied information that shows the exact date and time when their completed team was recorded in our system. Again, we do thank these users for their patience if we took some time to respond. It was imperative to us that we completed a thorough investigation of each individual issue so that we could present affected users with a unique response to their issue if required.

We acknowledge that due to the fact that Round 1 fell across the Easter weekend there was added confusion as to what constituted having a fully completed team in place by the start of the Carlton v Richmond game. This could have been better promoted and we will endeavour to work harder at making key events such as this clearer in the future.

We are committed to building the best Fantasy Sports game in the country.  While we understand how frustrating it is for the these passionate users not to score points in Round 1, ensuring the game is equitable and fair for everyone is paramount to us, and changing the scores of users who unfortunately made a mistake with their teams cannot be considered.

Best of luck with season 2016.  Bring on Round 2.

Doesn't look like it's mentioned, but if you don't have C, VC and 4 x E named the team is also considered incomplete in AF I'm pretty sure.
