Ok guys here is my team with Hartley on the back bench.

Didn't think of changing Menadue from mid bench to forward bench and bringing in Hewitt till I read it on here but Carl vs Rich game had already started.

Do I just bring move Tippa to back bench and bring Papley onto the forward bench and hope he plays a few games?

I guess I could always do a correction trade before price changes and switch Menadue to forward bench and trade out Papley for Hewitt if Papley is dropped by then?

Thoughts?

$19,700 in the kitty.

B - Shaw, Boyd, Laird, Weitering, Dea, Brown (Adams, Hartley)
M - Ablett, Rockcliff, Fyfe, Dangerfield, Libba, B.Crouch, Mills, Oliver (Menadue, Gresham, Davis)
R - Goldstein, Gawn (Wyat)
F - Barlow, S.Gray, A.Hall, Wells, B.Kennedy, Kerridge (McCarthy, Tippa)

one option:

you could swap out Hartley for Tippa/Walla (move back) and then have Kommer on your fwd bench??

I just honestly don't see Paps or Hewett playing any more than a couple of games each with McVeigh, McGlynn, Richards to come back over the next few so I think you'd be burning a trade at 'correction time' and imo that's a waste of a trade ...

whereas Kommer is set to play most of the season barring injury ...

having said that, yeh I don't have Kommer myself because he's not likely to score much, but at least will be a 'pulse' on the bench - where I don't reckon you'll get that much from Paps/Hewett in the longer term ...

good luck! ;)

Thanks for the reply mate.

I guess you know Sydney better than anyone else on here so I'll take your word on Hewitt and Papley.

Do you know why Kommer didn't get selected this week?

I guess I could just put Kommer there at F9 (won't really ever be using him on the field)

Not really any other options.  :-\

shower sorry, I didn't see that Kommer is only an emerg - that doesn't help much ... bugger ...

in that case just put Tippa back and put Paps on the fwd bench in his place ...

not sure on his js but have you got enough to get Mitch McGov (Ade) on fwd bench - I think he'd be a little safer than Paps in the medium to longer term ...

I can get McGovern but I hear his job security is shakey too with Menzel, Cameron and Knight to come back any second.

Maybe but still better than Paps imo...
At least if M McGovern plays well he keeps his spot and then he's also not the same type of player as those you listed - ie I don't think he's really competing against those guys for his spot??

Judd Magic

True.

McGovern is a athletic tall forward while Menzel, Cameron and Knight aren't.

Guess I will put McGovern at F9 then. LOL!

Other option I have is leave Tippa at F9 and replace Hartley with Tom Lee from the Saints if he makes the bench cut.

What do you think of Tom Lee ($123,900) for D9?

Bring Petracca in for Hartley and move Tippa to defence. Not worth a correction trade when I guarantee you will want Petracca anyway. Will be a handy loophole in the meantime.

How far away is Petrica????  :-\

Might not be in consideration for you but maybe downgrade one of your D1-3 to make a touch more cash, put Tipp in defence and bring in Milera? Shaw is top dollar and I had him in for a while but now taking a punt on him dropping a bit...

I've thought about re-shuffling my backline and going with -

Laird, Bartel, Gibson/Rich, Lonergan, Weitering, Dea (Brown, Adams)

Compared to my original backline -

Shaw, Boyd, Laird, Weitering, Dea, Brown (Adams, Tippa)

This allows me to get Lonergan in at D4 and move Brown to the bench.

What does everyone think about this idea?

Does my backline look alot weaker than it did before?  :-\

Just not sure about Gibson with no Lake around anymore and Rich I don't think can handle a tag very well but will play pure midfield.

Also not really sure what position Bartel will be playing this year. Does anyone know?

Lonergan at D4 though with Brown relegated to the bench does look better though.

Tippa stays at F9 to alternate with Brown and Adams.

I'd be happy with that reshuffled defensive line. And I would go Rich over Gibbo personally but plenty would disagree :)

Shaw - top dollar, will be a top defender (quite possibly the top defender) but may well drop in price)
Boyd - will likely score well and be top average but I expect him to be rested

Expensive picks for what they return imo.

Bartel is underpriced and I don't understand the questions on his durability, the guy has backed up season on season on season before INJURY last year. He's not carrying niggles that I'm aware of. Get on him.
Rich - worst case scenario if he plays through the mids is he becomes a useful D6, more upside than downside imo
Lonergan - again worst case scenario is he becomes a stepping stone to a top defender

Ok there is counter arguments to those points but that's the way I'd see it.

The ONLY concern I have is that if Hartley is named round 2, what would you do? I'd rather keep the gun/rook combo so Hartley could come in as a corrective trade if he is in next week, though the fact he wasn't even an emg is concerning. But if you shift from gun/rook to two mid pricers, that correction isn't as simple to decide...

I guess both my backlines have pros and cons.

You make some good points in relation to my revised backline.

If Hartley was to get named round 2 then it wouldn't really bother me as Brown and Adams would be on my back bench. :)

Don't forget with the Bombers that Grima will be in the team any week now so it even looks worse for Hartley in the short term in playing I reckon.

hogan2014

Just my opionion but no need to reshuffe for only one player. Petracca killed it today in Casey's intra-club. Still reckon you'l be mad not to just pick him. Has come in handy for me already allowing me to take Menadues score.
