Zac Smith

HI fellow SC'ers!

I am just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on Zac Smith. Yes he is injury prone however watching him in the NAB cup he jumped all over Grundy who I rate as a pretty good ruckman. He also got around the ground very well. Geelong didn't get this guy in for no reason! he will also be tapping it down to a midfield of Danger, Jelwood, Duncan, Guthrie, Bartel, Caddy etc. I just think at his price he could easily average 90+. Worst case he averages 80-85+ and you wait for goldy to drop.

Please give me your thoughts!

I also put a lot of thought into this guy, however ended up going the extra $125K & grabbed Gawn as R2. I do however think he can 90+ this year, however after being burnt by Rucks in the R2 position last year, i thought best to go the safe bet rather then burning trades to fix up my ruck stocks.

It makes the team more balanced if I have him in there over gawn, Jacobs and martin.

Seems like he will share alot of ruck time with Stanley.

Hi Spudaroos, thanks for the feedback.

Yes he will share a bit of the ruck load with Stanley however he did that in the NAB cup and still did quite well for his price. I am just thinking about going him over goldy and saving myself 270k which I can use in defence. Then wait for goldy to drop!

it will take a bit of time from what ive heard in general Stanley reaching full fitness for the ruck position, ill give it till about round 6 before Stanley starts sharing an even load, till then i think smith will be doing 3/4 sharing the 1/4 with Blicavs in the final quarter.

my plan is to trade him out round 6-8 unless he is averaging 100+ then ill look at keeping him till finals.

tempted to trade Gawn down to him and upgrade defence..just dont know if you can trust Smith..

Spoken to a few people down the club about this guy. Thoughts are that he's solid but there still just not sure. To big a risk for me. I have Sinclair at r2 and side looks spot on after using that extra cash 8)
