Just a question but, if I was to purchase GA tickets off ticketek, it doesn't give me seating so do I just rock upto the game on game day and ask the entry officials where we're seated or ask the ticket box where I am to be seated? I know they make the decision on game day as to where all GA ticket holders are seated but I want the tickets previously so I'm not rushing at the game.

Is that all I have to do? Ask an official and they will tell me or what haha, first time purchasing GA tickets lol

Assuming it is going to be a packed house get there when the gates open or you'll be in the nose bleeds.  One of my best purchases has been away reserved seats for this reason. The only time I sit GA is if a mate goes to the game with me so I'll sit with them. A bunch of people go when the gates open and lay down scarfs and crap over about 10 seats before pissing off and coming back a half hour before the game starts. It was pretty common for the big games like Collingwood vs Carlton

Also avoid going to gate 3 if you do get there late. My mate said that the queue there was ridiculous and it took forever to get in because they are using metal detectors on everyone. It will probably be Ponsford stand GA only. They will generally announce that over the speakers.

I actually asked the guy do I have to empty out my pockets twice and they just said nothing and kept making gestures for me to raise my hands and then got me to turn around. It's because of what happened in France at the soccer game that they have bumped it up. Soon enough they will have us taking our shoes off like they do in the airports in the USA. It's not necessarily a bad thing though because the security at the G is notoriously poor.
