People that think Weitering will be the top scoring defender are further off than people that think Dea can average 80 imo. I like Weitering but for every decent score he posts expect a sub 50 score just as often

based of what?

AFL ready body
fantastic talent
extremely mature
as a floating defender he has a SC friendly role that plays to his streengh of intercept marking
very good nab score

what has he done to show he wont score besides being able to be played as a KPD (rance tmac etc..)

Marstar

Who cares about averages?  They are there to be culled.

Oxley banged out mutliple 90+ games with a monster 148.

A little purple patch of 80+ is all they need.

Weitering 67 - Key defender will struggle to score well. It is a myth that defenders do better in losses - Prospectus 2013 did the stats.
Whitecross N/A - Won't play
Dea 68 - Will struggle to score well at the Bombers, but could get to a 70 average given his good NAB.
Adams 62 - Mature, but a key defender.
Broad 65 - Should get a bit more of it as a medium defender.
Brown 54 - Key defender at Bombers + bad NAB = a struggle to get over 50.
Collins 64 - Adams ahead in the pecking order, but Collins did better in NAB.
Hartley 59 - NAB scores were flukes I reckon, better than Brown though.
Hibberd N/A - Won't play
Ruggles 66 - Should go ok as a mature small defender, but mainly a lockdown defender.
McDonald-Tip 67 - I'm backing him in for some decent scoring, NAB was impressive.

RaisyDaisy

Pretty much agree with the above post, but I'd give an extra couple of points to Dea and Adams, and have Ruggles below 60

meow meow

Finally some realistic predictions!

Jeppas Jnrs today said that he thought Dea would play Hibberds role with stints in the mids later on when the kids get tired, keeper possibility?

What's a Jeppas Jnrs and why should i listen to him ?
My concern is Bomber fans who Believe Dea could play 3 or 4 games then get dropped when Dempsey returns. Dempsey responded well to Woosha's lay it all out there talks, was given a 1 year contract extension and slimmed down while putting in heaps of extra hours at the gym over & before preseason. I have read comments to the effect ''I can't see Dea & Dempsey playing in the same team'' and since the Bombers have no rights to any of the top up players after this year why will they play a top up guy over a contracted player unless they have too.

Were these Bomber fans talking rubbish or do they have a valid point about Dea's role vs Dempsey returning?

Based off the fact that he's 18 years old, has never played a game of AFL and will occasionally be playing on some of the monster power forwards that will take him to the cleaners in a team that gets flogged most weeks.
I certainly think he will have good days but a guy like him will be prone to some stinkers too

he isnt though he is playing a lose defender.

Rowe and Jamison are playing on the monster power forwards.

He's basically already won the NAB Rising Star, should be All-Australian and may even win the Brownlow. Will probably win the Coleman too because he won't have to worry about his man, so will drift forward and kick 5 a game.

Sometimes he will, sometimes he will be forced to play tight hence the reason I think he will put in some really low scores as well as the good ones

Not to mention there was room for both Hibberd and Dempsey in our best 22, Dempsey has just as much chance of playing off HF. If Dea starts round 1 then he stays there, I'm sure the injury list will be larger than normal as the young guys aren't ready for 22 game seasons, and I don't think we'll ever have the luxury of dropping him.
