I don't really care what the Dee's supporters say :p .. I have watched enough football to know that when he shows a bit of form they won't be dropping a bloke playing in good form. I'll back him in to earn his spot. It's Melbourne. They aren't exactly blessed with a team Of champions.

Nor are they a champion team.  :P

The argument that SC is a marathon and not a sprint supports RD's plan to grab Petracca now.

I like it.

I'll be starting bennedy 100%. I am pretty confident he will establish himself to be best 22 at the Dee's. It's whether I wanna start petracca or not.  And I reckon I will.

Dees supporters all seem to think that Bennedy is on the fringe. No doubt he has the opportunity, but I don't want to have to sweat each week that he and Milera get played, so Petracca and De Goey seems the right choice for me

Most coaches allocate 2-3 corrective trades.
And this would be one. But with the added bonus of making some coin in the process

I'll take the trade saved and loopholing ability over 2 price rises

Petracca & De Goey is also more expensive than Bennedy & Milera. The question for me is Cocky or Petracca, still favouring Cocky due to a bit more certainty with his inclusion. I guess if Bennedy gets dropped he will probably be replaced by Petracca, in which case one can make a corrective trade.

If Petracca debuts rnd 3-4 then you'll get 2 weeks to see how he goes before a price if he's killing it then dump your lowest scoring rookie for him. You would've got 2-3 price rises out of your lowest rookie and can grab Petracca on the bubble.

You make money and you've gained points. Win. Win.

And that's why I think I am now leaning back towards starting Petracca

2 price rises is hardly worth a precious trade. I might not be earning cash for 2-3 weeks, but I save a trade and earn extra points by using him to loophole

you work out who the best option is.

what if you dont start bennedy and he goes bang bang 85 90. Do you find a way to trade him in.

Agree.....Didn't Bennedy play all three pre-season games and average 84?  Seems to me like he can play.  Gotta back that form in.

I guess the dilemma for a lot of us is whether we keep Bennedy or grab Petracca now....

Tough choice, at the moment I am leaning towards Bennedy

RaisyDaisy

Thoughts on dumping just Milera and starting both Bennedy and Petracca? Would give the assurance that at least one will always be playing, and both could too

I just can't wait for the Melbourne game to start as I have changed my team so many times today trying to come up with something I'm comfortable with. Starting Petracca has merit. Currently though I can't bring myself to do it. The article I read about today's game mentions he is need of weeks of match fitness, though with a best on ground today that's debatable and with the options at a similar price having questionable JS, funds are needed to have better cover...something I've struggled with.

OK, so Petracca played today and all the Dee supporters who watched said he looked excellent

There is every chance that he debut's in round 3-4

I am not asking about starting him purely to be able to loophole and save a trade, but more importantly Ben Kennedy

I currently have Bennedy, and if Petracca returns in 2-3 weeks there is a good chance it's at the expense of Bennedy

So, instead of starting Bennedy I am really thinking I should just start Petracca. I can use him to bank Menadue's score, and loophole my fwd rookies each week until he plays, as well as use him for captain loopholes where possible but most importantly I don't have to worry about Bennedy getting dropped

Start Petracca or Bennedy - that's my decision

Don't know what you have against B.Kennedy RD.

Every post of yours I read you seem to be doubting his job security.

The Dees brought him over from the Pies for a reason, to play games and lots of games in the senior side.

If you want Petrica now then just grab him for loophole purposes on your bench but not at the expense of B.Kennedy.

Kennedy averaged 84-85 in all 3 nab games, he can play. What more do you want?  :-\

I've actually had Bennedy in my side for months, and have been comfortable with that, but the reality is that Petracca and Brayshaw will be back soon

Bennedy will stay in my side, and if I need to blow a trade or two then that's fine

Sounds like I'm chopping and changing a lot, but I'm just looking at everything from every angle - and over analysing

If you're not named, you're not being picked. I'll worry about Petracca when I need to later on

LordSneeze

He is the perfect correction trade option. Why leave him in when you can use him to adjust your team if you need.

eaglesman

I think people are picking petracca here hoping for loophole. Forget picking him if that is the case. First game tomoro and second game the following week.

He will be playing round 3. Forget this crap he needs a month in the vfl or whatever.

Wanderer

If I bring in Petracca, do I get rid of Hewett or McCarthy? Want to keep Bennedy.

RaisyDaisy

Bloody hell, now I read this article and am thinking of just starting him

"Petracca, who was also playing his first match after having his debut season wiped out by a torn anterior cruciate ligament injury, showed exactly why there are such big wraps on him.

The No.2 pick from the 2014 NAB AFL Draft was the best player on the field by a fair margin, displaying his renowned power off the mark and supreme confidence to take the game on.

The 20-year-old, who is making his return from a broken toe suffered while playing basketball in the off-season, will be given a full month of football at VFL level before putting his hand up for senior selection.

However, based on Friday's performance, Demons fans might not be waiting too long to see Petracca running out in red and blue for the first time.

"We're not putting any limits on him and if he earns his spot, he earns his spot," Trengove said."
