Not sure how long he'll be out with the injury anyway but 5 weeks is still more than Dusty Martin got for threatening to kill someone ::)

In fairness though Richmond needs Dusty more than we need Krakouer. By a significant margin.

shouldn't really take that into consideration when imposing sanctions for violent off field behaviour :P

Apparently the whole dusty thing was relatively unsubstantiated anyway.

I think a big reason for the 5-week suspension is because he will be out for 4-6 weeks anyway (with his recovery) - so we might as well tack on as many weeks as we can.

This is more of a PR statement by the club (as well as trying to convey a strong club culture w/o making any real sacrifices) - since Kochie has arrived at the club our image has improved substantially (his career in the media has been worth a lot - just like the Magpies with Eddie - love him or hate him, not many clubs are willing to cross Collingwood because of Eddie's PR skills - I also suspect he was the main reason for the Power not being able to top-up for Monfries and Ryder).

I support the suspension though. It makes the club look more professional to outsiders and comes at zero cost - I also think it's a way for the playing group to communicate their disapproval with Krakouer's conduct more than anything else.

Yep the injury list says 4-6 so clearly they just based the suspension on that.
