What makes a good midpricer?

If you expect them to finish top 6/8/2/6, then pick them (Rocky). If you expect them to gain more cash than a rookie, then pick them (Wells), but how do you decide if a player is worth it somewhere in between?

I am looking for a general way to compare them across different price points and positions.

Example: Hall vs. Lonergan
Hall: priced at ~79, expect ~95, which is 16 points of value (terrible for a rookie), and just below (-3) my top 6 forwards (98)
Lonergan: priced at ~64, expect ~88, which is 24 points of value (slightly below rookie), and further below (-6) my top 6 defenders (94)

A good mid pricer is one that turns in to a prem.
Does not have to be in the best 6/8/2/6 just needs to get premium numbers

Its pretty simple

Not necessarily, just has to make enough cash to make the pick worthwhile. Crouch likely won't be a keeper. JOM wouldn't be a keeper. Wells might not be a keeper. Harwood probably won't be a keeper. But if they all make 150k or thereabouts, then they'd all be good picks.

I'd say if they make less than 100k, then they wouldn't have been worth starting. Anything more is good enough for me.

There are 3 types of mid pricers

Fallen guns - These guys are proven and have shown they are capable of putting up keeper numbers. Libba, Wells and even Crouch

Breakout contenders - These guys are generally in the 250-400k range and are picked in the hope of becoming keepers. They've shown enough to justify taking a shot but come with risk

Mid price Cash cows - Similar to breakout contenders you want them to make some cash but they have the JS a rookie doesn't which is their main appeal but generally won't be good enough to become keepers  think EMack

Me personally? I'm only interested in fallen guns. If they turn into keepers it's a real bonus but if they don't they'll still make enough cash and generate more points

Nailing a mid price breakout is hard. How many people started with Roberton and Macmillan last year?

I prefer to avoid them all together

For them to break out, you'd surely have to see a glimpse of the players ceiling. If someones only ever scored 70's and 80's, they're priced at 60 but you think they can go to 90..then I'd steer clear. If in the past they've hit games of over 120,130 etc, then it could just come down to a positional change. They're the ones that can be worth the punt along with fallen prems (safest)
