Gone Deep in the MIDS... Too Deep?

Not sold on Goldstein at his price - plan is start Tippet and swing into FWDs once Goldy becomes more affordable

This allows me extra $ to bat deep in the midfield with Libba at M7 and Mills at M8

$23k left over

Thoughts?

It's a structure that's popular and one i'm messing with at the minute.
Being able to switch Tippett to the forward line when you grab Goldy is handy, will cost a couple of trades to get rookies to Goldy though without the stepping stone.

It's a ballsy plan for sure, the key will be Goldy being pantsed by Sandilands again, if so then it could provide a real advantage.

interesting that you spent that much coin in the mid and dont have fyfe who could easily be the highest scoring player.

I reckon you go slightly weak with crouch and use that money.

Thanks Guys really appreciate your thoughts thus far

I'm sure he's going to drop from his starting price so have left him out and hoping it won't be too hard to get him in - and given "back-clutch" gate the other day I'm just more comfortable starting the others.... however Gaz's foot might change that

True. But same goes for any of the super-prems you don't start... and we can't start them all

This is an interesting team. My kind of team. There's only one position that hurts this set-up imo, and that's Tippet at R2. All the good choices on your other lines are going to be undone because the top 5,000 coaches are going with Goldy. If you're right, and they're wrong, you're going to be laughing your way to 50K. But I'd suggest hedging your bet with the rucks and letting the rest of your set-up provide the differentiation.

I recommend: downgrading O. Wines to M. Crouch, which will produce cash about 30K shy of turning Tippet into Goldy (you can gather the rest from a couple of Rookie adjustments). If Goldy's a flop, you're with the crowd. If he scores 130 against the Crows in R1 (ave. against them is 108), you'll come out of the gates at the back of the back.

Good luck. This team will do well regardless.

If you could provide feedback on my latest team, it would be much appreciated :) :

Having second thoughts on the Tippet at R2....

But Goldy at nearly $690k is just too expensive. I've made three key changes

Out: Bartel, Ablett, Tippet and Dusty
In: Rich, Fyfe, Smartin and S.Gray

Rationale:

  • No preseason for Ablett... a risk not starting him, but also risky starting. Fyfe should mitigate that AND less risky in my opinion

  • Rich as a POD... hoping he can put up similar numbers to last year (all very good reasons documented in another thread)
  • Smartin - not Goldy... but should hopefully not be too far off him
  • S.Gray - my POD... been wanting to fit him in all preseason. Great early draw and cracking pre-season
  • Dusty - priced at his maximum, will wait until he drops... but also want to see how limited rotations and his family issues affect him (if at all)

New line up:

DEF: Heater, Laird, Rich, Weitering, Dea, Brown (Hartley, Adams)

MID: Fyfe, Danger, Pendles, Rocky, Parker, Wines, Libba, Mills (Gresham, Petraca, Davis)

RUC: Smartin, Gawn (Cox)

FWD: Barlow, S.Gray, Wells, Bennedy, Menadue, Kerride (Grimely, Tippa)

Thoughts?

I really like the team, but my main doubts are over the FWD's. Bennedy and Menadue - If they can be best 22 for a while, then awesome! But I dont trust it. I'd be looking to put another keeper in there just in case.

And your argument against Goldy applies to Shaw. IMO Goldy is worth his price a lot more than Shaw is. 600k in DEF man thats rough.

Apart from that I like it :)

If you are going to take the risk on S.Gray then i would downgrade Wines and get D.Martin in the FWD just to give you more security.

You can swap Menude up to the mids and hope he or greshem get's pick to fit your last mid spot.

Do you think it's wise not to pick GOLDY...!!
