Alright guys, let's discuss this.

I never thought about finals before but I could run something simple like a round robin for points (first gets 10 points, 2nd gets 9 points etc) over the last few weeks (no consumables allowed) to do some sort of finals campaign.

Initially, the winner was going to be determined by whoever had the most gold. I would buy back all cards for a specifically calculated amount based on rarity of card and the person with the most gold would win.

I am happy to do both ideas concurrently anyway for fun.

What would you all like to do?

Spite

Haha sorry everyone! The end of semester is here so all my final tests and assignment are now. I'll be able to do packs on Thursday this week and next week only after Thursday. Auction will end late again on Thursday to compensate a little, sorry about that. There's a small chance I get them done tonight/tomorrow if I'm feeling somewhat confident about my assessments. I'm still at uni at the moment though so don't wait up!
Sorry again and thanks for the patience!

Don't get me wrong, I love innovation, ideas and concepts, but I am beginning to feel as though there are too many of the 'Old Blokes' creeping into the UTG. There's 2/6 Omegas, which stick around for 6/8 weeks each, getting around the 40 appearances mark, plus the Platinum Flashbacks, I think the balance is starting to get a little bit out of whack -  not enough focus on those still strapping on the boots every week.

Having said that, keep up the great work Spite & Levi, I'm loving it!  ;D

I have to agree FTC. The concept of this game is so similiar to FIFA which is what I like (dunno if this is where you drew your inspiration from Spite) but the oldies never took away from the current players and the feats of Messi, Ronaldo, Ibra etc (today's greats) which is what made the game so great (before their very own innovation started to wear down)

And the other thing I would love about UTG to make it even better would be to add a Player Auction, much like the Auction House, where players (not you or Levi) could put up a certain player with a starting bid, just like we did in one of the mini games not so long ago. But instead of being a one round game, it would become a permanent fixture on the board. Even if a player at the beginning of the week, had a max of 1-2 players they could put up for auction (so they couldn't sell their team) and would then be able to pm you, so you could make sure a fair sum was achieved and nobody was getting shafted. It would mean their would become more trading between teams which could become very interesting and mean people aren't always splurging money into the pack openings every week. Bc I'll be honest, that mini game was the most fun I've had in awhile on here, it improved my team greatly in the areas I was deficient (I lost Gray and some other good players) but there are certainly players on other teams that I am itching to get. In my example, a ruckman would be handy over Zac Smith... The biggest thing though, is that it would create more diversity among the auction every week and we don't end up with lists of meaningless players.

I may be unanimous in this decision, but I think it would be awesome.

I agree with you Wato, buying and selling was very enjoyable, and it got everyone involved throughout the week, rather than just popping packs on a Monday and submitting on a Thursday/Friday night.

As to not abolish the hard work that has gone into these Historic Omegas and Platinum Flashbacks, there could be some sort of Legends Week, just like a Silver Week etc. where you get to submit all the retired players you have for a week (can't use them in any other week). Scoring could be difficult, but you could go for something a little crazy like,
Geelong 2016 R18 score 1550 DT points between them, therefore Gary Ablett Snr scores 1550 DT points (or 155) in Legends Week which could be R18 or whenever really! Then you total up all your legends scores for the standard 100G-40G prizes etc.

I agree about the oldies. I was meaning to talk about it with Levi but have been too busy. I wanted to decrease the power of GaJ Snr, which I will probably still do next week (sorry Holz, but you still got him free!). I'll talk about it more with Levi and try and find the happy balance.

Regarding the second point, I do understand where you are coming from and maybe we will have a few more weeks where people can trade/sell cards to each other. There is a reason that this isn't a permanent fixture of the game, which hopefully when I explain will make sense.
If you had the ability to rely a heck of a lot less on luck and use your gold to build yourself the perfect team, the game would be over much more quickly and people would lose interest. The fact that someone has to strive to get that gold backman for 3 weeks does keep them interested and even more excited when they finally get it. If you had the ability to save up all your gold and then just purchase a great starting 8, you'd be finished your team in a handful of weeks.
I'll certainly plan to have more trading/selling opportunities between players in the future, I just don't think making it a permanent part of the game is a good idea and will ultimately detract from the game. Relying on luck in the packs may be frustrating, but it is better than having things handed to you.

If more people do want it to be a permanent part of the game then I will happily run with it and see what happens. It could turn out to be very good so happy to trial it even if people want that change.

That's a good point Re: Auction Spite, at the present time, it's frustrating to watch people sell back players I'd quite like to have, say Bernie Vince and Nige just a few hours ago, I would quite like Bernie, so watching Nige turn him into to 12G when I would take him for say 20G is annoying - but it's great! Keeps me interested in packs and cashing in and auctions and whatever. If I could just steal the man of my dreams from an opponent who had no need for him, it does all get a bit easy.

@Spite

You do make some very valid points. I also have a way of getting around this. Making the game harder.
In FIFA UT, to require a certain amount of players on field every week, you were required to purchase contracts for players and you could get a different amount of games depending on the rarity of the card. Without the contract, you weren't able to field that player. So the better the players you begin to field, the higher amount of $$ you require to purchase contracts and the longer it takes to build your UT squad. Seeing as we are managers of each of our squads, it would make sense that our olayers deserve to be funded from our gains every week.
Which then means you can possibly, still make it a permanent fixture whilst continuing the aspect of luck within the game, but just tweak what people can do within the auction. So potentially, players can put up players but it would be a non-bidding process and all players have to be overpriced so if people really want them, they pay overs so they don't get them for chips. Plus, it's like the normal auction in the sense that, you don't know what people are gonna put up, so people would never lose interest in the game because at one stage, they may be going nowhere. But it may be too far in to start this, but it would deffs stop us all purchasing 5-6 packs, and actually think about where all our money goes.

is he really that powerfull?

Broadbent can pump out a 80-90 easy so its pentially a 0-20 point increase.

There is the handicap round where I probably will play a siliver player over him.

People have players like gibbs being a silver mid pumping out 110s.

I have a plat sam mitchell who has gone 74 and 53.

I think the mini games add alot to the comp and winning them needs some type of advantage.

If i had of say came 3rd or 4th in that mini game I would have had 3 packs and as you said i would have got Ablett and Swan. So thats a gun mid and then an extra 50 gold. Could have picked up 3 more packs and who knows what I would have got. So really ill take Ablett + 3 packs over a guy who cant play in the finals.

The legends cant be used in finals so I need them to make money which might make me an extra 30-50 gold over the rest of the season.

As soon as it hits finals they will be gone.

Dont feel it takes anything away from the game with

A. at most 4 will be played 1 week we have 80 players playing each week potentiall more so thats 5% of the comp. I think it being blown out of proportion.
B. They cant be played in finals anyway
C. I had my luck in winning mini games. Got one by selling lots to puposely get the card. I would have kept suckling otherwise. 2 I did about 30 minutes research into last week and this week mini prize. I dont think its anything different then someone getting a lucky pull in the packs. Could argue at least the mini game has abit of skill.

C'mon Holz, a guaranteed 100/120 every week for 8 weeks is too strong for winning 1 mini game.

its 100/110.

and as i said its not for finals.

3rd prize was 1 free pack, in that pack I would have got Ablett and Swan so basically ablett and 50 gold. Ill take that over Ablett Jnr.

most people have good forwards so its like +15/ +20 for a few weeks. Not including finals. My finals team hasnt been improved at all so i need those 15/20 points a week.

Round 16: Gold week! Users must only submit teams with gold rarity players. I cant use him

Round 20: Handicap week! Play different rarities for varying bonuses. Platinum = 0, Gold = +8, Silver = +15, Bronze = +25. It might be better not to use him

Round 12: Golf week! Must name 11 players and attempt to get the lowest score possible. Lowest score wins, like golf. If you have a donut, it count's as 100 points. Can name emergencies.    using him would be stupid.

so yeah 15-20 points over a few rounds isnt a massive upside in my opinion. Plus the longer the games go the less valuable they become. If i picked up say a Zorko to go with Dahl I arguably shouldnt even play him some weeks.

It's guaranteed, he can't get injured, tagged, have a bad game etc.
You make it sound like not having him for the low score weeks is such a downside, no one else will be playing their guns either!

Ricochet

Its better than winning a normal Platinum from a mini game.... which is wrong

the only downside is Finals

yes but as teams are getting stronger each week the prizes need to be stronger too.

look at the mini prize this week. Its 3 platinum flash backs 120+ and a captain card.

no way is it better then a normal platinum. If it is im happy both of them for 1 normal platinum.

I valued the Dean Cox soo highly that i got rid of Suckling unnecessarily knowing he would miss one week. he was going as a 90 average F/D.
