This guy is having a big say on my overall team and I need to decide whether he is actually worth it

If I was to downgrade him to a rookie I could get another prem elsewhere. If I downgraded him as well as Shaw to Rance and even Goldy to Gawn I could add another premium to my side

I feel like the flow on impact of keeping him is starting to hinder my overall team.

Say he does come out and averages 105, he is good enough for m8 but not the best. He has a high chance of missing games through injury. Really starting to convince myself he's not worth all of this

Something like Shaw to Rance and a little reshuffle to turn Crouch into a proven gun is getting very tempting. Removes the risk

if he doesn't play NAB 3 ITS A WORRY. only because with minimum pre season games. will he be match fit? everyone makes him out to be a gun. he is a good player. but he's no ablett, fyfe, danger etc where those guys don't have to play any nabs and would come out rd 1 and kill it.

i could be wrong. just not a good sign

I have stuck fast with him but I agree everything hinges on him playing NAB 3. Not picking a player without playing a NAB game is a rule I follow religiously and only ever broken for Gazza last year and we all know how that turned out.  :(
He pulled up with general soreness after the intra club trial which i'd expect after such a long lay off and he did run amok in the trial game so I think they decided he needs more conditioning to get him through games in better nick. This i've excepted as good practice I think it's been wise tbh. Still he must play NAB 3 and get through it otherwise all of the coaches statements like he's just sore and if it were for points he'd play and he'll be fine for round 1 etc go out the window with Crouch following.
I'm loathed to change anything with my structure, I really like the team as it is. Switching him to a rookie is the easiest way to go but I like the strong midfield I have and finding someone at his price is tough, Have a guy in mind but it's more of a gamble than Crouch and he's 60-70k more which is very hard to find at the minute.
I live in hope he plays NAB 3 gets through it and lines up round 1.

I agree with everything you say, Grazz, but with me he has to do a bit more than "get through" Nab 3.  Five or six kicks and a half a dozen handballs is not going to cut it if he wants to be in my team.  Oh "he got through unscathed, didn't do much, but at least he's still in one piece." I don't want to see that.  I want to see Paddy Dangerfield breathing fire, I want to see Gaz making the impossible look mundane, I want to see Fyfe wink at me when he's 6 feet in the air pulling in another screamer.  What is Crouch going to do for me...well...it better be good and it better be soon.  Time's running out, son, let's see what ya got.

If he plays NAB 3 I think he'll have a red hot crack, i'm hoping he does. He only knows one way, 40 touches in the trial game was his downfall he went to hard to early and pulled up with the general so he could be told to just blow the cobwebs out. Don't need to see 40 touches but I do want to see him have a real dip like yourself then make a call from that if he lines up rnd 1. I reckon Pyke will want him to have a real crack and they'll just monitor his minutes now the 90 cap rotation comes in for NAB 3. They need to test him under a bit of load to gauge where he's at since the trial game i'd say.

That intra club match was nearly a month ago now. If he doesn't play nab 3 then it's far more than general soreness unfortunately

Can't argue with you there mate, even i'll be suspicious despite Pyke's claims.

Been out of my team for basically the last 10 years now, don't think I'll start him unless he plays NAB 3 and goes alright

My thoughts also. Pulled up sore after a intra trial so I need to know he can get through a game with some influence and not miss the next 1 or 2. That would be the #1 thought process for most with an eye still on him I reckon.

what are you doing if he plays a full game and posts sub 60?
