Needs to deal with the tag better, I'll concede he gets manhandled every match but that's footy unfortunately. Hopefully Townsend, Marcon & Moore can make a difference, if so Brownlow number 2 might be possible.

What, are they going to put on ski-masks & hoodies at Qtr time and break the taggers legs?

AaronKirk

His SC scoring isn't helped by the fact that so many of his kicks he has are 15-20 metres in distance and generally backwards or sideways.

A lot of his kicks that travel longer than 20 metres have been poor kicks in the last 1-2 years. He loses confidence and then starts to handball too much.

Also he doesn't handle the tag very well at all.

Was just over the 100 average in 2014 and just under in 2015. I don't trust that he will average over the ton this season and there is no way I will be burned by him again.

As RD said Cotch is expected to be an elite midfielder but unfortunately he is not.

Could be a 120 avg player if he could get some protection and break through the tags.. Until I see that happening I won't go near him as he will always be hot and cold

Has too many revolting shower games to even be considered imo.  No good having players who are content with scores of 50 when their team is down by 8 goals!

I don't buy into this whole ''If he had more help/protection from the tagger crap''.
Sure other good players around you demand attention themselves helping to alleviate constant harassment but no club can afford to have 1 or 2 guys focusing to much on helping out 1 other player with his tag, imho (and it is just my opinion) you either learn to beat a tagger yourself or succumb to it.

He is still a pretty good player like Marc Murphy but that is the difference between these guys and your Ablett's,Fyfe's & Judd's.

I like Cotch but wouldn't bother picking him when Rocky is so cheap, Ablett is so cheap, Fyfe is a superstar, Libba is so cheap, and you have proven performers like Pendles.

I don't mean guys that are solely there to alleviate the tagger, I mean guys that put on blocks, take out the oppositions best mid etc.
Cotchins mostly played in a midfield of very offensive players. No coincidence that his best years were in 2012-13 when Jackson and Tuck were in the midfield.

Holz

this isnt 2012 that was a blip

his career averages stand at

67 62 79 101 blip 106 102 99

so he is priced at 99 with you would say upside of 100-105.

I gotta agree somewhat with this and think Selwood's 2015 was an fine example, but I think it's more about having quality footballers around that mean the opposition can't just focus on the one player, rather than the type of players around the midfield. I don't see the opposition really caring about any of the new recruits.

FWIW, I think Wines/Parker are 100x the better options.

So what do we think now? The bloke is a regular season specialist, has won a brownlow (sorry Bombers fans :P) ;), he has scoring history, he's had a 2 week break. There aren't many taggers around now to stop him.

66 against Port (Rd 6 and he missed the next two games) and 87 against Carlton (Rd 1) his only sub 100 scores. His BE is only 58 and price is $552,200, average of 110.40. And he's in 1.8% of teams.

So why not pick him up?

I'm tempted to pick him up as a cheap(ish) midfield upgrade over Gray.

But.. I just don't think I can. Started with him the last 2 seasons and he's been a bit of a dud.

Might need to think about this a bit more

quinny88

Ya have to take Gray for 50k cheaper but Cotch certainly isn't a bad pick, having a really solid season and in great form

Yeah he's been really impressive from what I've seen this year, but gotta go with Gray if bringing someone in this week at least

Gavdroid

The 66 was affected by a fractured cheekbone in the opening minutes of that game too. (Also happened to be the week I put him in of course)

Grufflez

I think you will find that nearly every single person who has played supercoach for the last 4-5 years
has either started with Cotchin or brought him in at some point and been let down. And i do mean literally everyone.

Would love to hear from a long time player who has never had Cotchin in their team at some point..IS THERE ONE WHO WALKS AMONG US!

Why keep touching the burning stove?
