Conca is best 22 every day of the week  JS is not a problem

Richmond's midfield is getting deep, and Conca won't be in there as much as he previously was. He played off half back in the intra and looked very good from reports

He is an awkward price, but if plays that rebounding role off hb during nab he could be a decent pick. If he was 50K cheaper I'd be on board, but at this stage I'll pass however won't completely rule him out just yet. Need to see him in NAB

Money Shot

How much is he?
Wells is the better option for sure but Depending on price Conca could be the next best (expensive rookie/cheap mid pricer) pick yet after Wells.

284100 is a bit pricey for me, he would have to average 80 to make 100k

Which he's capable of, based on history. How long would it take to make 100k?

How anyone can compare Kommer to Zorko is beyond me, Zorko racks up midfielder numbers, his defensive pressure is one small part of his armoury. The optimism with a guy who has averaged 53 in his only season seems misplaced to me, the fact he has missed 2 years of football should also be a red flag. If there are no other options on the table I will be going with a high priced rookie type, not suggesting Conca will be the best of the bunch but I think I could rely on him to nail down a starting position. A 50 odd from Kommer simply won't cut it, shades of Rohan from 2014.

Kommer isnt Zorko isnt close but at sub 120k you have too look. He played 19 games in that season. taking out his sub game

he racked up

3.4 tackles (thats a good number)
6.1 kicks
5.4 Handballs
2.8 marks

unsubbed 55.

Now in full training and expected to play during the nab. Should be able to put up 55-60 and im happy with that at 120k.

Conca however prcied at 280k. has not played more then 18 games in a season.

his best ever season is 81. going 81 at 280k isnt worth it when you have wells simpkin mills hopper parish all at 225k or under.

Conca will need to go 80-85 to be a decent pick. has JS issues aswell as im not sure he is 100% locked in the squad.

Reece Conca's first 9 rounds in 2014-

99, 54, 104, 105, 89, 71, 119, 77, 95

average = 90.33

We obviously have different expectations at F6, no way I start a player who will average 55 and has been missing for 2 years.

Ricochet

Is anyone starting him at F6 though?? I wouldn't have thought so

This was mentioned earlier in the thread, in any case the situation is most people are relying on Petracca to fill F6 (including me at this early stage). If he doesn't get up and no other rookies emerge then we may be looking at mid-pricers or even an extra premo in the forward line.

For me personally, I'm playing Crouch at M7 this year because I'm not sold on Mills, Parish or Hopper. The reasons I've stated before but for the record - Mills is playing for Sydney and they always manage their first year players, can't see him outscoring a guy like Heeney and I wouldn't spend 200k with the benefit of hindsight. Parish I think will be more a link-man because he doesn't have the mass to be a true inside extractor, the problem being Essendon don't have too many to choose from and will get smashed with the contested possessions. Hopper will probably have a similar impact to Steele, the GWS midfield is chocka-block with inside midfielders.

That leaves us with Simpkin, Anderson, Conca and even Wright who's not a bad suggestion. Obviously it would be too early to make a call but any of these players could be worthy choices, just have to wait for the NAB Cup form to make an accurate call.

As for Corey Ellis, his preseason has been very good but his game in the intraclub match was very disappointing. Townsend played a top match and will have first dibs I would think.

I agree I would rather wright for sure

I have looked at him and think the better play is a corrective trade if I am afforded that luxury early

Bully

With Petracca looking very doubtful, Conca is edging closer to my starting team. Will be hoping for some other rookies but if not, I'll go with another mid-pricer.

Mat0369

If Petracca doesn't play round 1 he is the guy I will use to loophole early. I can use him in the midfield or forward line. He's going to get games at some point so I'll keep him
