Whilst we may have individual player discussion threads, and Matchday threads, I thought it would be reasonable to have a thread dedicated to talking about the different roles and positions that players may be taking on during this Pre-Season, as we cannot watch everyone at once.

So if you have information about a player playing in a new position or role, post it here!  ;D

Adelaide

Brisbane
Jono Freeman - impressed forward alongside Hipwood and Hammelman in an IntraClub match (AFL Website)
"...clunked marks and kicked two goals in the first quarter" (Lions Website)

Tom Bell - "broke tackles and fended off opponents, kicking 3 goals..." (Lions Website)
"playing through the midfield and off half forward" (Lions Website)

Eric Hipwood - impressed forward alongside Freeman and Hammelman in an IntraClub match (AFL Website)

Ryan Harwood - "had plenty of the ball bouncing from the half back flank" (Lions Website)
"...really impressive as well and may have cemented his spot over Lester" (Ringo)

Matthew Hammelman - impressed forward alongside Freeman and Hipwood in an IntraClub match (AFL Website)
"Matt Hammelmann's a rookie but who knows, he might get his chance next week (NAB)," Leppitsch said. (Lions Website)

Mitch Robinson - "standout... was everywhere... do not think he had much of a rest" (Ringo)

Carlton

Collingwood
Tom Langdon - set to return to a "familiar role" in defence this year (AFL Website)

Essendon

Fremantle
Michael Walters - Walters rotated through the midfield in an IntraClub game (AFL Website)

Hayden Ballantyne - Ballantyne rotated through the midfield in an IntraClub game (AFL Website)

Nat Fyfe - The Reigning Brownlow medallist Nathan Fyfe played up forward and kicked two goals (AFL Website)

Geelong
Nakia Cockatoo - has been training as an on-baller and doing well (AFL Website)

Gold Coast

GWS

Hawthorn
Kurt Heatherly - could be the man to replace Brian Lake as a Key Defender, likely to get a run in the NAB (AFL Website)

Melbourne

North Melbourne

Port Adelaide
Jared Polec - started on the wing and managed a few early kicks as he looks to re-familiarlise himself with game (AFL Website)

Richmond
Nathan Broad - could well line-up round 1, can see him replacing Batchelor at this stage (Bully)

Reece Conca - playing defence at the moment but getting plenty of the ball (Bully)

St. Kilda

Sydney
Callum Mills - reportedly impressive coming off Half Back

West Coast

Western Bulldogs
Josh Dunkley - has been attending stoppages and doing well, managed to kick a goal or two too. Competing with all the other inside mids. He's a large boy. (meow)

Marcus Adams - has been great except for his kicking, his contested/intercept marking stands out like 2009 Brian Lake. Way better than Hamling and Roberts. (meow)

Bailey Williams - getting heaps of it off half back. (meow)

Bully

Nathan Broad could well line-up round 1, can see him replacing Batchelor at this stage (particularly after Waite shredded Batch in the final last year).

Conca playing defence at the moment but getting plenty of the ball, still worth it at 284k.

Corey Ellis was unsighted unfortunately, is very fit but may find himself on the outer.

From the AFL Website, I gather that:
Jono Freeman, Eric Hipwood and Matthew Hammelman all played forward and snagged some goals in the Brisbane IntraClub match.

Ryan Harwood was really impressive as well and may have cemented his spot over Lester. The real standout however was Mitch Robinsion who was everywhere and do not think he had much of a rest over the 4 quarters and looked very strong.

Sabretooth Tigers

I'm extremely tempted to pick him either at F4, or swap Buddy for him.

Didn't read it all, but plenty of updates there

Buddy looked good, Dusty and Conca for the Tiges (as mentioned above), Gray and Wingard for Port

Also read Treloar looked very good today too

Get both. I do

Another little gem that has surfaced this morning and probably rookie relevant

'Lester’s appearance in the top side ahead of Jarrad Jansen was also telling"

So that may mean Jansen is a little down the pecking order given that for the first half was a probables side.

Ricochet

Well yeh we'd kinda expect that tho wouldn't we mate? I mean he's a new young unproven player at the club trying to break his way in

What are people's thoughts on Heeney he looked the goods yesterday.

Jono Freeman looked good yesterday too - doesn't mean you pick him ;)

Better options than Heeney for now - maybe in a year or two
