Is Aaron hall a good/stupid pick for FWD 4 or 5?

I can easily see Hall getting shoved out of that midfield come round 1
you don't see to well

Hall has been locked since NAB 1.  His tackling pressure is huge and he must be up there with most centre bounce attendances for the whole NAB?!?

sammy123

will play midfield. but will b first booted out when ablett,o meara etc all line up

RaisyDaisy

Averaged 9 tackles per game during the NAB

JOM, Swallow won't be around for a while and GAJ and Prestia are not 100%

I think he will be a good pick, but at the moment I'm going with 2 prem forwards so I don't have him

Ok now I can't decide between hall and de goey and more cash. De goey is a lock for a 90-95 average for me, but hall will probs go bigger

De Goey has scored 95 and 88 in NAB. I'm a big fan, but for an entire season I think he will average in the mid to high 80's so I think I might pass.

Structure wise I can fit him, but I feel I'm better positioned without him

I think that's about right, those predicting an Ollie Wines type second year might be sorely disappointed, he doesn't have the tank for starters, he will also spend lengthy stints in the forward line. Not sure I want an 85ish guy playing for me all year, he will make a small amount of dough but not nearly enough to justify a trade.

Apologies for quoting myself but I've changed my De Goey rating, he's now on the watchlist. Reason is simply there are few cheap rookies out there with a decent scoring potential and good job security. Having mulled over M11 for an eternity I'm inclined to swing Bennedy there and play De Goey at F3. The reasons are twofold, not sold on Oliver or Parish justifying their price and if they do well in the first couple of weeks I can always do a correctional trade with Bennedy. Secondly, De Goey should make roughly 100k and make for an easy upgrade, perhaps without having to cull. Compared to Simpkin et al, I think he's worth the extra spend, it's the same argument I used with Conca so I'm sticking to my guns. But I will say this, I'm not expecting miracles just a solid 80 odd every week, that's all one can expect from a second year player.

May be better to go with Sam Gray

As a Port supporter I watched all of his NAB Cup games and despite our strong midfield he seems a realistic competitor to be our leading ball winner by season's end - even with a full strength lineup

He really shows that there is no substitute for a strong work ethic (I would not be surprised with he finished ahead of Wines, Boak, Ebert, & R. Gray for disposals - also, as a midfielder I see that Hammer has been tried out in the contested role to a lot of success - he won't be fantasy relevant in SC or DT (as there are better options out there) but could slide in draft leagues - the problem is he no sure thing for the ruck-rover or centre midfield role and will most likely play as a forward or defensive sweeper, could go to his U18's level though)

Any more thoughts on Hall?

Will hopefully be a good pick in the first half of the year but unsure what role he plays once the big guns come back

Given that he's had a solid preseason one would expect him to keep producing excellent numbers, think he's a good pick and better than De Goey at this stage. Tempted to start him but it will require downgrading Goldy to Nic Nat and Pendles to Selwood, not sure I can justify those moves.

I've been looking at the same thing myself - starting Hall at F2, but it's going to require a sacrifice elsewhere and that's the part I am struggling with
