Part time McVeigh was the only other guy who could put up decent numbers on the Sydney backline so Malceski had the run of things there. At GC he's got KK, Harbrow, Saad, Cannon and perhaps part time Dwallow so I can't see how he gets back to a 95 average.

My Chumps

Being a Sydney fan, in 2014 when he had that 105 year we looked to get the ball to Eski absolutely every time it entered the back 50 to use his foot skills. It was actually an exceptionally dangerous strategy and we got caught out for it with the super pressure from the Hawks in the GF that year + Clarkson targeting Eski's favoured kicking zones.

I don't think he's ever going to be at a team that relies on him and feeds him as much ball as we did.

That being said, I highly doubt he's heading backwards from last season. Tipping a light-mid 80's average.

Changed your tune after claiming he would be 2005-07 Lindsay Gilbee for Eade last pre-season meow ;)

Haha if you recall I was saying the opposite of what I really think but making compelling arguements to back up my claims that I didn't believe. Swan and Bont were a couple of prime examples, and they were in my starting team.

The best defenders are like the best rucks - they rarely back it up. I don't think Shaw will be in the top 6 backs in 2016 for this very reason. GWS won't be as shower and the more they lost by, the more Shaw scored. He averaged something like 135 in games that they lost by more than 4 goals.

No current AFL back flanks are anything like being as good as Gilbee was in his prime. Except maybe Bob.

What the hell happened to that kid! fell off in a big way, handly notice or hear anything about him anymore,                                               didn't he average like 90 a few years back?
