Dixon injured - Is it even a surprise?

Didn't take long for him to be off the track again. Hopefully they sort him out and he can be ready for Round 1 or at the least the Showdown in Round 2.

Dixon and Polec need to be managed

Both talented players (esp. Polec) but that are injury prone to a ridiculous extent. There are claims that if Hinkley had not decided to manage Polec from round 5 onwards, and if Polec had undergone surgery on his navicular as a cash-out option, he would never have returned to AFL football.

They are both young for their positions so the club really need to manage them. Our list is growing more experienced and eventually it will reach that point where the side should be contending for the Grand Final (in 2014 we caught the competition by surprise - but I would not have said we were genuine contenders, even if Spud Moore didn't flower up the set-shot and we beat the Hawks, the Swans would have controlled the subsequent game and dismantled our gameplan). Experience ultimately wins grand finals and in 2014, we had the 3rd most inexperienced team, I hear that over the last two years our team has become the 7th more experienced (time flies in the football world). What we need is a top 8 finish this year with no casualties carried into the next season. From there we can either surprise the competition or just do well in the finals and then be primed for 2017.

If the team fails to make the finals I will be very disappointed (probably more disappointed than when we lost to Brisbane and Carlton last year - those were both tough days for me as a Power supporter - I ranked both experiences as being worse than our 2011 and 2012 seasons, because at least we were shower back then and coached by possibly the worst coach in history).
