2016 FF SUPERCOACH ELXAM LEAGUE

It was over 5 years ago, on Father's Day, when fanfooty user elxam (the username is his name Max Le in reverse) passed away, and he was a father himself. He was fantastic contributor to the site and is still missed. This competition is named in his honour and has seen many of FF's finest coaches vying for the various honours up for grabs over a number of years.

ELXAM LEAGUE FAQ...as explained by ossie85

What's Elxam?

Elxam was a user of fanfooty, who had reached coach status. Tragically, he passed away on Father's Day 2010. In honour of this terrific person and poster, we named the league after him.

Who's eligible?

Anybody who has posted a 1000 times or more in counted sections (Dream Team, SuperCoach, AFL boards). And m0nty. Basically anyone who can see the coaches section of the forum, plus those coaches who have deactivated their accounts, but once were coaches.

How long has it been going for?

5 Years!

How's it work?

Each coach enters into a group league. The top 16 point scorers play across the last 4 rounds of the year in elimination to determine who is the Title Winner for the year. The link to this league can be found in the Nominate your interest thread. Coaches are asked to identify their team name when they join by way of making a post.

We also have Knock-Out Cup Competition, a State-of-Origin competition, the m0nty medal and a Champions League

If everybody has the same chance to win the competition, what is the Champions League?

The Championship league is filled with the most successful coaches from last year, and they play for the Champions Trophy. HOWEVER, the Overall trophy is the #1 trophy to win.

How do I make the Champions League?

To qualify for the 2017 champions League, you need to do one of these things:
- Finish in the top 8 of the 2016 Champions League
- Finish 9th in the 2016 Champions League (post finals)
- Make the Final 4 in the Overall Competition (Elxam group)
- Be the Knock-Out Cup Champion
- Remaining spots filled based on where you finished on the points ladder in the group at the end of the year

Fantasy Championship
Many coaches play AFL Fantasy, Dream Team and SuperCoach. This competition basically adds up your scores for the years to see who in the elxam league has scored the most points.

You've probably been playing in Elxam 4 years but only 3rd year in Champions League. I suspect 2013 was the year you qualified by winning the league in another Elxam league...as I did in 2012 when I beat Ringo in the Lions league thanks to him having some horrendous bad luck.
Edit: just checked and this is correct... In 2013 you were premier in the Elxam Fanatics league.
No other leagues now, just Champions league with everyone in the Group competing with the top 16 in points to play off in finals, sudden death to determine overall winner.

Thanks guys. I love this comp... My favourite by some margin and feel privileged to be a part of it.
All work to keep it alive and well is worth it for the joy it brings.
Besides overall ranking, staying in the Elxam league is my no 1 goal every year. This year is no different.
